Dead By Daylight Ringu

Ringu is Coming to Dead By Daylight

Behaviour Interactive announced an upcoming collaboration with Kadokawa, bringing Ringu to Dead By Daylight. The collaboration will be based on the original Japanese novel from 1991 and feature film from 1998. A new announcement trailer reveals that the Ringu collaboration will arrive sometime in March 2022.

While details are scarce, the announcement trailer shows the iconic well from the Japanese feature film. Kadokawa Corporation producer Reiko Imayasu confirms that the upcoming collaboration will add a new killer. Notably, one that will “rival all the great predecessors.” There is no confirmation on who the new Survivor will be. Additionally, the official press release makes no mention of later The Ring English remakes or Ring sequels.

Japanese writer Koji Suzuki originally started the Ringu series as a trilogy of novels in 1991, which includes 1995’s Spiral and 1998’s Loop. Director Hideo Nakata later adapted the novel into a feature film, Ringu, in 1998. Along with other popular Japanese horror franchises like Ju-On and Dark Water, Ringu went on to popularize the J-Horror genre worldwide. The film series was later adapted for western audiences as 2002’s The Ring.

Previously, Behaviour Interactive has worked with other horror film franchises such as Hellraiser and Stranger Things. It has also worked with Capcom to bring Resident Evil characters to the game. However, the Dead By Daylight Ringu collaboration is the first time Behaviour has partnered with a Japanese horror film franchise.

The Dead By Daylight Ringu collaboration will arrive sometime in March 2022. More details will release at a later date.
