Roundup: Prey Release Week Deals for PC and Console

Today marks the day Prey is released on all platform worldwide. If you’re hyped for the newest Sci-Fi horror shooter from Bethesda and Arkane Studios but not thrilled at throwing down $59.99, the good news is deals are plentiful on PC Steam copies of Prey. In fact, several authorized retailers have discounts as high as 25% off as of writing.

For PC gamers the best deal is at GamesPlanet. There you’ll find Prey priced at £34.99, and while GamesPlanet is only priced in British Pounds, you can buy the non-region locked Steam key worldwide. In US Dollars the total comes out to about $45.43. This is also an important discount for Australian PC gamers, who are being charged $79.99 USD on Steam Store ($107 AUD) for the same game (at GamesPlanet, you’re looking at a more reasonable $61 AUD).

Other options for PC gamers on discounted copy of Prey includes GMG, DLGamer, Bundle Star, and GamersGate. All retailers are still offering the DLC bonus of the Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack (which was original a pre-order bonus).

Console gamers have discount options as well, but you’ll need a paid membership. Amazon is the usual good pick if you’re already a Prime member, where you’ll get the game 20% off. The same 20% discount is also available at Best Buy for Gamers Club Unlocked members and on top of that Best Buy is tossing in a free SteelBook cover during Prey’s release week.

Released today on May 5, 2017. Prey is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. User reviews are thus far mostly positive for the console (though Metacritic has its pros/cons as a review aggregate). On the PC, the game is currently sitting at a “very positive” rating with 90% of the 600+ user reviews being in favorable light.

In general, if you enjoyed the demo on the console the final version appears to be holding true. For PC gamers, if you like a combination of Dead Space, System Shock, and Portal – this might be right up your alley. At the end, given review copies were on the backburner from Bethesda, you can always wait for reviews from trusted critics given the deals above should last through release week.
