Samurai Jack voice actor (and many others) Phil LaMarr starred in a recent video dropped by Adult Swim Games to promote the upcoming Battle Through Time video game. In the video, which you can watch below, LaMarr talks to the audience about what it’s like to return to Samurai Jack once again, the game’s connection to the series’ lore, and gives us a peek behind the scenes into the VO booths. In addition to seeing LaMarr record lines as Jack, we also get to see returning cast members B.J. Ward (Witch Hag), Grey Delisle (Josephine Clench, Scotsman’s Daughter), Kevin Michael Richardson (Demongo), Greg Baldwin (Aku), Tara Strong (Ashi), John DiMaggio (Scotsman), and Rob Paulsen (Rothchild). Each actor gets screen time, giving us a fun look into the VO recording process.
Another notable tidbit is towards the end of the video, LaMarr talks about the connection between Battle Through Time and the show. He notes that Samurai Jack games have existed before, but calls this one the first time the “real team” has been fully involved in, and the only one that “follows the lore.” Official marketing taglines for the game include, “an untold adventure that ties into the epic series finale,” hinting at some connection to canon.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will launch for the Nintendo Switch, the PS4, the Xbox One, and the PC in summer 2020.
