Sega released several omamori amulet wallpapers, which feature characters from series such as Yakuza, Sonic, and Virtua Fighter. A total of seven wallpapers are available to download through the official SNS Sega Japanese website. Sega characters that appear on the omamori amulet wallpapers includes Kazuma Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga from the Yakuza series, Dr. Eggman from the Sonic series, Akira Yui from Virtua Fighter, and the Puyos from Puyo Puyo. Each amulet features an encouraging phrase that is meant to lift the spirits of the holder. For example, the Kazuma Kiryu omamori amulet wallpaper reads “Do your best.” Traditionally, omamori amulets are meant to bring good luck to the holder.
Leading into the new year, Sega posted a video featuring Sonic the Hedgehog visiting a local shrine in Shinagawa, Japan. This part of an on-going “A Day in the Life of Sonic” video series. The series will feature Sonic in every day locations. Sega plans to upload more videos in this series to the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel periodically throughout the year. Viewers can also make suggestions as to where they would like Sonic to go.
