In an announcement earlier today, Valve has confirmed that the Steam Controller has reached 500,000 units sold. Accompanied the announcement includes updates on the controller’s new title support and hints at even more configuration and customization capability.

We’re not sure if GameStop got the same press memo but the retailer has decided to also discount the Steam Controller by 30% off – which cuts the price all the way down to $35. This makes it the cheapest we’ve seen Steam Controller being priced at and was a rather surprising sale. (Don’t forget to use code SAVER to get free shipping).

Also on sale at GameStop is another Valve hardware, namely the Steam Link – a slightly less popular accessory that lets gamers stream their game through their local network to supported media devices such as the TV, separate monitor in another room, etc. GameStop has the Steam Link on sale with the same 30% off discount, and if you use the same GameStop promo code “SAVER” above, you’ll receive free shipping on the Steam Link.

Released last year Fall on November 10, this discount is the first time where we’ve seen a real price cut on Valve’s game controller. Previously, most “deals” on the Steam Controller consist of bundle package where you can get a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 (big woop), or other specific Valve titles. The sale was so popular, GameStop’s server came to a grinding halt earlier today from the demand – though it has since eased up significantly.
