Taito will release a new rhythm arcade game titled Tetote x Connect in Japan in December 2021 that will include a collaboration event featuring Hatsune Miku at the game’s launch.
The arcade cabinet for Tetote x Connect will feature a large screen. But while Konami’s DANCE aROUND depends on motion capture cameras, this game will instead use a touchscreen. The core gameplay system will have players tap and swipe prompts on the screen in accordance with the song and the virtual partner’s movements.
The new arcade game will have 40 songs at launch. Vocaloid songs like Kurousa-P’s “Senbonzakura” for Hatsune Miku, and Kanaria’s “KING” for GUMI will dominate the lineup. It will also include anime theme songs like Sumire Uesaka’s “Pop Team Epic,” and popular Touhou Project remixes, such as “Red Apple!! feat. Nomico” and “Cirno’s Perfect Math Class.” Rhythm game composers like REDALiCE, Shohei Tsuchiya, and Naoki Maeda will contribute original songs to the game’s lineup.
Taito initially revealed Tetote x Connect at JAEPO 2020 with a launch window planned within the same year. However, the coronavirus pandemic greatly affected arcade gaming in Japan. Since announcing the inevitable delay in October 2020, Taito had not made further updates on the new arcade game until November 16, 2021.
Tetote x Connect will be available on arcades in Japan. It will appear on Round1 game centers on December 1, 2021, and Taito Stations on December 8, 2021.
