Take to the Skies With Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing in 2020 on Oculus Quest

Updated released windows for the next Little Witch Academia game has been announced, and it reveals both a delay and a timed exclusivity period. Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing was first announced back in June 2019 with a Spring 2020 release window. Now, it will only come to the Oculus Quest in late 2020, with other versions appearing later. The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has caused delays that pushed it out of its original June 2020 release window.

Eventually, Oculus Quest owners comfortable with Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing’s English and Japanese language options will only be able to take to the sky in the crowdfunded game that made $165,000. Then, in early 2021, people will be able to play through PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift versions of the game.

Instead of an adventure game with RPG elements along the lines of Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time or the action game Magic Knight Grand Charion, this Little Witch Academia game focuses on flying on brooms. There are ten different courses available in the game, with people able to play alone or go online to race against other people. Part of the gimmick here involves not only racing alone, but with another Luna Nova witch like Akko, Sucy, or Diana. You’ll also come across ghosts to “purify” as you race along the tracks.

Here’s a trailer showing the first-person Little Witch Academia game. While you can hear her voice acting during the course, you only get to see that Akko was by your side the whole time at the end.

Here are some looks at some of the 10 tracks from a third-person perspective. Each one is set in a different Luna Nova location.

Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing will come to the Oculus Quest in late 2020 and to the PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift in early 2021.
