Okay. First of all, here’s how you can find all of the Final Fantasy mainline games on modern platforms. It’s actually easy to play all of them!

  • Final Fantasy (GBA, NES, PS1, PSP, PC, Mobile, MSX2, Wonderswan Color)
  • Final Fantasy II (NES, PS1, PSP, PC, Mobile, Wonderswan Color)
  • Final Fantasy III (FC, DS, PSP, PC, Mobile) – There is also an Ouya version that is gone for good.
  • Final Fantasy IV (DS, GBA, PS1, PSP, SNES, PC, Mobile, Wonderswan Color)
  • Final Fantasy V (GBA, PS1, SFC, PC, Mobile)
  • Final Fantasy VI (GBA, PS1, SNES, PC, Mobile)
  • Final Fantasy VII (PS1, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, Mobile)

Final Fantasy Games That are Delisted or Otherwise Nearly Impossible to Play Officially

There are a lot of Final Fantasy games that are just plain gone. These were mostly mobile titles that ran their course. Which means “officially,” you can’t get and play them anymore.

  • Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII (Mobile) – Completely gone, which makes sense since it launched in 2004. Should be back in some way in Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis
  • Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode: Final Fantasy VII (Mobile) – Gone as of 2018.
  • Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Mobile (Mobile) – Kicked the bucket in Japan in 2018.
  • Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier (Mobile) – Perhaps a bit premature, but it will be out of here as of January 11, 2023.
  • Final Fantasy VII G-Bike (Mobile) – Killed off in Japan in 2015
  • Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding (Mobile) – Dead in Japan as of 2018.
  • Final Fantasy Agito (Mobile) – Ended its Japanese run in 2015
  • Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade (Mobile) – Died in North America in 2014 and Japan in 2020.
  • Final Fantasy Artniks (Mobile) – Dead
  • Final Fantasy Artniks Dive (Mobile) – Super Dead
  • Final Fantasy Awakening (Mobile) – Wiped out as of 2020.
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord (Wii) – We didn’t deserve WiiWare.
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Wii) – Pour one out for WiiWare.
  • Final Fantasy Dimensions (Mobile) – Dead as of 2018
  • Final Fantasy Grandmasters (Mobile) – Only appeared in Japan until 2019.
  • Final Fantasy Record Keeper (Mobile) – Died worldwide in September 2022.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics S (Mobile) – Stopped running in Japan as of 2014
  • Final Fantasy: Unlimited with U (Mobile, PC) – Given this launched in 2002 on phones and 2003 on PCs in Japan, you had to expect it’s gone.
  • Final Fantasy World Wide Words (Mobile) – Typed its last words in Japan in 2016.
  • Justice Monsters Five (Mobile) – Gone as of 2017
  • King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon (Mobile) – Kaput as of 2018
  • Mobius Final Fantasy (Mobile, PC) – Gone as of 2020.
  • Pictlogica Final Fantasy (Mobile, 3DS) – This nonogram game is dead on Japanese mobile devices, and is unable to be gotten from the Japanese 3DS eShop as of March 27, 2023.
