Update: The sale is over at Toys”R”Us but the promotion is still running for select 3DS games (link below). If you enjoy browsing these type of promo, Target and other retailers will usually run another similar sale at year’s end around mid-December (after Black Friday and Cyber Monday rush).
If the recent “Buy 2 Get 1 Free Game” sale at Target didn’t strike your fancy because it is missing key Nintendo titles, you’re in for a treat this weekend. Toys”R”Us is pre-empting this month’s upcoming holiday sales by running their popular bi-annual “Buy 1, Get 1 40% Off” Video Game Sale. What’s extra special about the sale vs Target’s sale last week? Nintendo Switch titles qualify!
If you’re a Nintendo gamer, you’ll know how rare it is to find Nintendo titles on sale, let alone a popular platform such as the Nintendo Switch. As of writing, there are over 800 titles available in the promotion. This promotion works on latest releases such as Super Mario Odyssey, Call of Duty: WWII, and Assassin’s Creed Origins. If you click-through to the promotion you’ll see that games are sorted by “Best Selling” and, unsurprisingly, Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch is the #1 selling game for this promotion.
- List of Nintendo 3DS Games (77 titles, still ongoing)
Buy 1 Game, Get 1 Game for 40% Off (860 titles) List of Nintendo Switch Games (41 titles) List of PS4 Games (248 titles) List of Xbox One Games (199 titles)
Getting the offer is straightforward, add two items to cart for the discount to automatically apply. There is a maximum of 3 discounts per order. Shipping is free on orders above $29. The discounted item will be equal or lesser value than the lowest priced item purchase (so if you buy a $60 game and a $40 game, the 40% off applies to the $40 game). If you own multiple systems, we highly recommend keeping the purchase to only Nintendo titles as games on other platforms such as the PS4 and Xbox One will be a lot cheaper during upcoming holiday sales.
Note that Toys”R”US is also running a similar sale specifically for 3DS games and accessories, plus a 20% off sale on select Pokemon games on the 3DS. The best part is that the discount from the B1G1 40% off offer stacks. So you can essentially pick up both Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon together for about $25 each. A price every other platform gamers may balk at, but Nintendo gamers will decisively appreciate.
No clear expiration date exists for both of these sales at Toys”R”Us, but given they appear at the same time as the store’s new weekly ad catalog
we’re assuming the expiration date to be November 18, 2017 (Update: turns out it was a Friday through Saturday only sale, while the 3DS offer is still ongoing as of writing).
