Classic Mario Paint commercials

Remember Mario Paint from the Super NES? In Japan Nintendo advertised their creative tool with a clay animated Mario flying around on a SNES mouse.

Below is a second commercial with Yoshi flying around on a SNES mouse and conduct a musical piece with a Koopa, goomba, bob-omb and a mushroom. At the midpoint of the short ad, Nintendo flashes a bunch of complex pictures drawn with Mario Paint. Imagine drawing this with just the SNES mouse.

If memory serves, those sure beat the pants off the commercial we got. Too bad its advertising verges on the false with those super-elaborate anime and sumi-e pictures.

By far the best part of mario paint was the fly swatter game; at least in my opinion.

Further proof that neurotic Japanese children make the best animators in the world. :)
