AtomScreen Gallery – Heroes of Mana
Square-Enix released a new batch of screenshots from the US version of Heroes of Mana. After playing Dawn of Mana I have my doubts about the Mana series, but Heroes of Mana has a new take on it. As Roli explains in his playtest it bucks the action RPG formula and plays like a touch screen real time strategy game. Since I like RTS games I’m willing to give the Mana series another chance. Will you?

Dawn of Mana is called “Seiken Desetsu 4″ in Jpn actually, another RTS for the DS eh..

What can I say, Square is like a teenager, thinks they know it all. Well at least I thought so when I was a silly teen!
Square can make hits, but for some strange defiant way, they refuse to make what the people clamor for. A TRUE MANA GAME. The sad part is, that this game will probably be more fun than the last two!

I’m actually looking forward to Heroes of Mana. It’s probably the closest we’ll get to a proper Seiken Desetsu 3 sequel from Square, if the fan reaction thus far is to be believed. This isn’t exactly the hack-n-slasher we’re all craving from them, but all I’ve read for the game is positive, so that’s certainly a step in the right direction.

Interesting… funny how they’re avoiding just making a straight up Seiken Densetsu 4 (or 5… did Legend count?), though!
