Izuna returns to work, Atlus localizes Izuna Ni

The unemployed ninja returns to the Nintendo DS and in English on July 22 when Atlus releases Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns. Free food draws Izuna into a festive event where Shino, Izuna’s sister, vanishes. However, she can’t be gone for long since Shino is a playable character in Izuna 2.

The new tag system allows Izuna to switch between other characters like Shino and Mitsumoto. Izuna can also team up with her partner character for a double screen attack. Aside from the tag system we can expect more of what made Izuna solid in the first place. More dungeons, more items, more side quests and more humor (maybe?).

With Izuna 2, Shiren the Wanderer, Shiren 3 and Baroque I dub 2008 the year of rougelikes.

    Year of Roguelikes indeed.

But come on Atlus, I’ve been waiting for you to tell me that Super Robot Taisen: Original Generationg is being localized for the PS2 and will release this fall! I’m waiting for a Yggdra Union PSP anouncement!

Oh and they need to put my fears to rest and announce that they will bring Persona 4 to us in 2009 if not 2008!

    More roguelikes = good thing.

Now Shiren 3 just needs to be confirmed for a US release, and I’ll be happy.

  • Lord Gek

Enh, not a super awaited one but if it’s good for the ROGUELIKE TEAM, power to it. Where is the official word that Shiren 3 is coming here already, dag nabbit (yeah, I guess it has to come out in Japan first, grumble grumble)!

  • SomeDude

I liked the first one. I’m not sure if I liked it enough to dust off the DS for a second…although tag-team dungeons does look pretty cool…

  • Pichi

Looking forward to it! ^o^ Love the first one!

  • EvilAkito

I’ve been on the fence about picking up Shiren the Wanderer. I’m sure I’d like it, but I’ve been saving my appetite for Izuna 2. And now it’s finally officially announced for the US.

  • Zhemos

I liked the first one, but I about threw my DS a few times when I died and lost all my stuff. Wonder if It’ll still have that in it.

I want super robot taisen for ps2 ><…

No one has ever made a good roguelike game who has not played Rogue.

Chunsoft obviously has, but Izuna’s developers seem more like they’re inspired by Mystery Dungeon than Rogue.
