The Muppet Babies test arcade classics

Jim Henson’s 1980’s cartoon series did more than splice Star Wars clips with toddler Kermit the Frog imagining himself as Luke Skywalker. In one episode the Muppet Babies got a brand new Nintendo Pretendo, which gave the writers a chance to parody video games. Kermit enters Frogger, Fozzie is thrown into Tetris, and Miss Piggy becomes a ninja. Briefly, footage of actual video games like Donkey Kong and Fantasy Zone are shown in the episode too. But nothing beats seeing Gonzo as Mario. It’s at the beginning of the first clip.

Love the show! I don’t think I seen this episode or it was so long ago since I seen it. Very nice!

Man, last I saw this I had to be around 6. This episode was always a trip. A little more unusual than what they usually did. One thing I never understood; how did Nanny get all those video games?

You won’t see the Muppet Babies imagining they’re in Liberty City or in the trenches during WWII in today’s games, that’s for sure.

Hot dang I missed this show.
