Blazer Drive leaps from manga to the DS imagesSeeing an anime series get a related game is common. Sega is jumping the gun with Blazer Drive since it’s still in the manga stage with only three published volumes. The speed of acquisition suggests the license must be valuable to Sega.

In the Nintendo DS game players fight Mysticker battles. Decals are part of daily life in future Tokyo since Mystickers grant Blazers (read: Mysticker users) powers like pyrokinesis. In combat players drag Mystickers from a menu on the touch screen to one of the two glowing gauntlets on the characters arms. Some sticker combinations unleash dual screen video attacks. Sega is also splicing cutscenes into the game to push the story along.

Blazer Drive also has a multiplayer mode for up to four players. This could be something simple like Mysticker trading or a wireless Mysticker war. We will know for sure soon since Blazer Drive is scheduled to come out in Japan this winter. At this time a North American release seems unlikely since the manga is not internationally distributed.

Mysticker sounds sort of lame, but other then that the game sounds quite interesting actually.

This is not unprecedented, Nana got a PS2 game before it was an anime although it was insanely popular too.

Actually its THREE CHAPTERS not THREE VOLUMES which is quite amazing since it hasn't been sold in Graphic Novel form yet.

Oh my Gosh! A game with Tamaki and Shiroh as the main characters, that's so awesome!
