Bleach: Dark Souls is simply Bleach DS 2nd

bleachds.jpgTreasure went back and tweaked Bleach: The Blade of Fate before Sega released it internationally. Changes were made to the blocking system and the ability to jump between fighting lines in on-on-one matches was removed. Projectile sidestepping fights went out the window. Bleach: The Blade of Fate is like Bleach DS 1.1. Bleach: Dark Souls isn’t Bleach DS 2.1.

I asked a representative from Sega if Treasure refined any game mechanics. They didn’t since the fixes in the US version of Bleach: The Blade of Fate were implemented in Bleach DS 2nd: Kokui Hirameku Requiem when it came out in Japan. Anyone who purchases the US game gets the same experience with easier to understand English text and English voice actors.

  • Okay, I'm gonna have to call BS on this. For a few reasons. First, Bleach DS 2nd came out in Japan eight months before The Blade of Fate came out in the US. Second, and most importantly, the changes Treasure implemented in The Blade of Fate are NOT in Kokui Hirameku Requiem. You can still line jump in one on one fights, Orihime and Ganju cannot do their flash step equivalents in mid-air, and although crouching blocks don't block aerial attacks, standing blocks do.

So, if Bleach: Dark Souls is the same as Kokui Hirameku Requiem, the changes Treasure made to the first are being undone.
  • Whorl
Dark Souls is just a translated version of Kokui Hirameku.
