Remotes? Lego Controlled Arcade Games Are The Future (Update: Videos!)

Move over joysticks and controllers. Sega is working on a block controlled arcade game called Block Pipo. Players use the blocks to control the on screen characters which makes Block Pipo sound like a Lego stacking game. Block Pipo is a cooperative game, but it can also be a competitive one if two machines are linked together. The final machine won’t be out in Japan until this summer, but we should hear more about Block Pipo next month when it makes its first appearance at AOU 2009.

Update: Well, it looks like AOU 2009 won’t be the first place Block Pipo is shown. Thanks to Madebyluke we have an early look at the game and it looks creative, but potentially problematic. What if someone pilfers all the blocks?

  • Here's a longer video of my friend playing,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I1DBGRzT3E

It gets really challenging as you go on, it's all against the clock and some of the levels have difficult tasks, such as, collecting the numbers 1 to 9 in order.

  • Strange, I commented before with links to videos of this being played by me and my friend but they were deleted...
  • It wasn't deleted by me! I saw your comment and those videos looked awesome. I was going to link back to them in the article, but it's gone (?). Strange... sorry about that!

Neat concept for sure! But Sega's not worried about punks running away with their brightly colored bricks?
  • Looks very interesting. Kinda has a Lemmings feel to it. I'm a little sad that I'll never play it though =(
  • S.F
    Genius! I love the concept.
