Capcom Developing 9 Wii Games, Officially Confirms Monster Hunter Tri

Until now Capcom was coy to confirm it, but Monster Hunter Tri is without a doubt getting an overseas release. Their 2008 financial results presentation states Monster Hunter Tri will come out in “FY 2009″ or, in plain English, sometime between April 2009 – April 2010. Monster Hunter Tri comes has an ambiguous summer target in Japan. I wouldn’t expect a domestic release until this winter.

Capcom’s presentation also explains their part of their platform strategy is to “introduce versions of major game series for the extremely popular Wii.” Nine Wii games are planned to ship within this fiscal year. Previously announced titles include: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Spyborgs, Monster Hunter 3, Resident Evil Archives, Resident Evil Zero Archives, and Monster Hunter G which shipped last month.

That gives us at least three titles to speculate on.

Megaman Legends 3, Breath of Fire VI and Tatsunoko vs Capcom pls!

    • http://omighty1.ucoz.com OMIGHTY1

Epic YES. Oh, and X9, please. XD

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

All of those picks would be deliciously awesome, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for any of them.

  • Mazen

Resident Evil 5 Wiimake for early next year.
    Street Fighter 4.
Breath Of fire 6 or Zack and Wiki 2, I prefer BOF 6 much more.

  • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

New Resident Evil (hopefully not a port of 5), Street Fighter 4 port, Tatsunoko vs Capcom localization.

Edit: Then again, would they be crazy enough to release both SF4 and TvC on Wii? SF4 would murder the latter. Let’s say new RE, TvC and…a new Mega Man game.

Double edit: They wouldn’t sabotage Darkside Chronicles’ release with a proper third-person RE game. OK, last time:

    1. TvC localization
    2. New Mega Man
    3. …I can’t imagine Capcom releasing anything too ambitious. Resident Evil Archives: RE3.

do you happen to teach? Anywhere?

      • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Nope, not at all! Why do you ask?

  • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

    STRIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FMsaziri

No wonder developers keep churning out sequels after sequels, that’s all gamers seem to ask. Anyone else here likes to try something new every now and then?

    • AMsaziri

Having something new and fresh would be nice. But the videogame industry is slowly turning into the stupid, unoriginal and racist Hollywood. So expect more sequels and rehashes. Mr. Kojima is finally getting his stupid wish.

  • lostinblue

are they really including code recompilation of gc games who already ran natively in the architecture such as REmake GC, RE0 and ports such as Monster Hunter G as DEVELOPING?

Ridiculous; next thing we know NISA will be claiming to be DEVELOPING Sakura Wars 5 for the Wii… it just happens to be 4 years old now and made for another platform altogether. marvelous

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Claim your profile already, lib. :P

      • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

I don’t know about him but I was never able to claim my older profile, that may be why.

But uhmmm LIB. NISA made it very clear that Sakura Taisen 5 is being ported by Idea Factory. Not sure what prompted this undeserved jab at NISA. They do a lot of things wrong, but they’re in the clear on this one.

        • ECM

Uh, I’m not sure how what he said is deriding NISA, considering the key words in that statement are “next thing we know NISA…”, i.e. they haven’t done this but if they did they’d be as pathetic as he believes Capcom has been.

          • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Fact remains that NISA are clearly saying Idea Factory’s handling SW, so that was out of left field either way.

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yea, Disqus’s profile-claiming mechanism is royally confusing. It took me a while to figure out how to do it, too. Maybe if he tries now he’ll be able to do it? I know there were (and still are) a few bugs that need sorting out in the comments system.

        • lostinblue

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll buy it, but I’m pissed at them considering they had a event to hype new games and yet the only games they’re releasing over here are… a 2003 game (phantom brave) ported via outsource and… Sakura Wars Wii.

Everyone in the industry was caught with their pants down but seriously, they should start backing it down with some new software as well.

So, as happy as I am, in a way, that sakura taisen is coming, I’m also irked by their actual support for the platform. It’s more in the lines of patching holes than having a wii line-up; if anything they have a greatest hits line-up on the wii.

      • lostinblue

I know, thing is I’m on a darned asus eee pc lately -_- (not my pc) my router burned and I use mac who’s incompatible with my modem so… I’m stranded with this.

It’s on my to do list, once I get web on a proper screen (800×480 royally sucks)

I dunno about associating accounts and stuff though, will look into it

  • DarkeSword

Count on a load of Resident Evil ports.

    • jarrodand

I think the Outbreaks are likely… gotta give Wii owners some more incentive to pay for that MH fee. ;)

      • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

This is what i want to see confirmed. Will there be a Pay to Play logo on MH3 upon its North American release? Because that will most likely break the deal for me, unless the game is released at a budget price (which it won’t), or the PTP fee is reasonable.

  • http://www.othersideboardsports.com/kiteboarding.html Franz Kiteboarding Gear

Wow, Resident Evil will be fun to play using Wii’s controls. I am absolutely sure it will be a big hit for Capcom. We’ll just have to wait and see.

    • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

I’ve seen a lot of people comment that these Archive games are just the GC games slapped on a Wii disc. No updated controls. Someone please confirm this.

      • MG

        Confirmed.

      • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

You are correct sir. The Resident Evil Archives games do not have motion control.

      • lostinblue

there’s some extra control scheme with a single wiimote, were you can point were you want to walk and stuff.

it’s supposed to be pretty tackled on and not working too well, but that’s a inclusion.

other than that… they didn’t even bother with adding 16:9; just a code recompilation and voilá… free moneys.

        • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

That’s confusing and not consistent with what I’ve been reading. I guess we won’t know until we know.

That said, porting a GC game to Wii requires substantial changes to the code such as loading a bunch of new libraries (Wii menu) and mapping waggle to GC input, as well as saving progress to Wii instead of GC. Yeah OK, I could pull it off in less than a week, but If it is indeed the case, it’s sad that they did all this under-the-hood legwork but didn’t go all the way with real incentives to re-purchase these games.

Long story short, don’t count on my 30$ Capcom.

  • Miss UI

how about a brand new mega man network transmission game for the wii? i loved the first one. it was very old school and very difficult. which is something i liked the most about the game.

increase the difficulty capcom! make it harder! videogames are way too easy now!

  • Robert Jung

Considering Capcom has no shame in charging $30 each for unaltered/unenhanced ports of the older Resident Evil games, I’m expecting Wii ports of MegaMan 64, Auto Modellista, MegaMan X Command Mission, Viewtiful Joe, and PN 03.

“You want us to actually make an effort on the Wii? Are you crazy?”

  • bearmon

Megaman legends 3, Resident Evil 5 Wiimake, and Street Fighter 4

  • Lucky

Too much Wii love, where is my PS3 love? :p

Just kidding (sorta) at least this means there will be more games to actually buy for my Wii which has been sleeping in a box for the longest time.

    • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

Capcom has tons of PS3 love… Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, PlayStation Classics, and… maybe even Lost Planet 2. Scratch that, probably Lost Planet 2.

  • CoolChibi

Power Stone 3 Please!!! (I know this aint gonna happen but a boy can dream right..) And maybe Gotcha Force 2!!! (This aint happening either… *Tears*)

    • jarrodand

Gotcha Force actually has a decent cult following in Japan… the reprint actually charted again after Wii released iirc, it’d be a good pick for a sequel.

  • CoolChibi

I hope its Power Stone 3 please!!! Or maybe even Gotcha Force 2!!!! (I know it ain’t gonna be these *Tears*)
