Jaleco Developing A RPG With Your Help

Jaleco Developing A RPG With Your HelpWhile the video game media was focused on E3, Ougon no Kizuna developer Jaleco was teasing something. Their countdown clock expired early in the morning revealing The: RPG.

Everything about the game, even the title, is still tentative. Jaleco explained the setting a bit by describing the protagonist as a dungeon exploring wizard and the world is on the brink of destruction. The official site warns that this information may change so don’t get your heart set on playing a wizard just yet.

What makes The: RPG interesting is Jaleco is incorporating user feedback when developing the game. Right now they’re asking for monster submissions, something that Little King’s Story did too. The submission page doesn’t seem to have many serious designs. There’s a few cats, Dr. Kawashima’s polygon head, and a gloomy carrot.

Jaleco hasn’t said anything if they’re taking any other feedback like artwork for the hero, story suggestions or level design. The: RPG could be an interesting project if Jaleco does all of the above, but right now it’s shadowware. The proposed game doesn’t have a release window or a system.

Mickey Mouse is even in there!

This long countdown and only this info! disappointing.

It had better end up better than Ougon no Kizuna (talk about money better used as fuel for a fire) or Jaleco should just close up shop.

Haha, I can see that 2ch has their hand in much of this…

I'm so surprised Kizuna wasn't announced at E3! Jaleco pretty much confirmed the American version was forthcoming, just in a very informal way (gamasutra interview).

Even though it got terrible scores, I'd give it a try, as I suspect most non-casual Wii owners would.

It's gonna take every one of Spencer's crack sources to break the news on who intends to localize “LOLcat: The RPG”!!

I became weary of that game, tbh.

I still hope it comes over… but I hope with a lot of tweaks that hopefully adress the complaints. Not as is.

Boy, and I thought they were dead.

    WIKIPEDIA ATTACK:

“Contrary to popular belief, Jaleco Holding's former subsdiary Jaleco Ltd is still in operation under Game Yarou's ownership. Because Jaleco Ltd was created in 2006 as a legal company rather than a division, the right to use the Jaleco name was not affected by the selling of the company to Game Yarou. Jaleco Ltd produces mobile phone video games as well as online games for the Internet. On March 2, 2009, Jaleco Ltd revealed on its website that Kizuna, a video game for the Wii, will be released in May 29, 2009.”

If I could draw, I would totally design monsters so awesome that Jaleco would have no choice but to put me in charge of the project. I'd use this new power to steal all they have on Jajamaru DS and become an international ROM fugitive.

As for this… even though it is from the Kizuna developer… I hope it is a Wii project (and that it turns out to be good)
