Got Any Burning Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Questions?

By Spencer . July 24, 2009 . 9:00am

Heads up Siliconeraites! I’m scheduled to do a Tatsunoko vs. Capcom interview later today. If there is something you wanted to ask the team post a comment with your question. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to everything, but I’ll do my best.

Read more stories about & & & on Siliconera.

  • I can only think of the obvious questions like, “What’s up with the new music?”, “Will the old music be in the game in any way, shape, or form?”, “Are the mini-games remaining?”, “Who are the new characters?”, and “Will a new game intro/song be made?”.

  • who are the new characters?!

  • lostinblue

    I do:

    1. In my country there’s only low-end arcade systems and a Arcade Wii comes into that market just fine, succeding after Naomi, System 256, Triforce and Chihiro so by supporting it capcom would be able to reach a broader userbase with arcade cabinets with a lower pricepoint as well as the Wii market by using their existing tech/engine… so, is there any possibility that they might rework the engine and the Street Fighter Rooster and make a Street Fighter 4 out of it?

    2. Will the Tatsunoko Versus Capcom cabinet be released in US/Europe?

    3. Most arcade cabinets can be updated, for instance, Tekken 5 Arcade cabinets later got upgraded to Tekken 5.1, so will the Tatsunoko Versus Capcom japanese builds in the arcade boards be updated?

    4. Are they planning on using the Tatsunoko engine on more games?

    5. I’ve heard the minigames will be reworked, this could be too late for this, but… could I beg for a “sub-space emisary” styled mode with Viewtiful Joe as a playable character? Just realized it might be the last time we’ll see him playable for a long time, and since he was on a 2D plane from the get go I think he’d fit?

    6. How is the arcade version faring in Japan?

    7. Any chance we could see a Marvel versus Capcom on this engine?

I know I went overboard, but I find them all pertinent questions I’d like to see asked.

  • More info on online mode would be nice! I’m still not sure how it will be organized, especially “rival” mode.

  • Kris

Throne covered most of the bases, but how about the rumored online play? Will it be in the NA version? Will it use friend codes? Wii Speak?
What are the new minigames like?
Why was Casshern localized as Casshan in the E3 build?
And lastly, when will we see that sexy wii fightstick shown off at comic con?

  • Zefiro Torna

A good question would be if any of the new content will make it into a possible future release in Japan (be it console or arcade), similar to the Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold scenario. Or will they rather hold off that stuff for a possible sequel instead…

I’d like to know what specifically got Capcom to choose Eighting as code monkeys for this game.

There’s also the potential for this game’s engine or other assets to be used for other fighting projects, seeing Batsu’s model makes me crave a new Rival Schools…

    • jarrodand

Yeah, I’ve been curious if Japan would get a rerelease too with all the additions?

    • This is a good question, I’m also wondering if the Japanese would receive an upgraded version. I’m assuming if they did it would have all the original music and possibly keep Daimaou, making it the “ultimate” version of the game.

  • BraveWind

I wonder If The Japanese people can fight others.
And I heard there are new Characters, If they won’t say their name at least the series/game they are in to keep us guessing a little less.

Thanks Spencer for the hard work.

  • eliel

will Leon from bio-hazard 1 and 4 be a secrect character?

  • doubleO7

Hakushon Daimaou was removed from the US version right? Who will replace him?

  • dante

Can they port the game to PS2?Still dont have wii and some PS2 only games on japain came here to em both so it would be nice, cant move in next gen yet.

  • Jay

    I have some

    1. Who are the new characters?

    2. Why change “Cross Generation of Heroes” to “Ultimate All stars”? The original sounds much better (kinda like how all of Capcom USA games sound worse than they’re Japanese counterparts ie. RE). Also there already is a game with the title Ultimate all stars.

    3. Any info about the online would be good

    • thaKingRocka

actually, i think “Cross Generation of Heroes” sounds pretty crappy. it doesn’t sound like natural english, and it doesn’t tell me anything about anything since it really doesn’t make sense. “ultimate all stars” is very blah, but it does a better job of representing the product. i think they should just call it … wait for it … tatsunoko vs. capcom.

  • jj984jj

2009 or 2010? A more definite time-frame would be nice.

  • QBasic

    I have a few. :3

-Are they planning any ports of the game to other consoles of any kind?
-Exactly which Tatsunoko characters were removed from the US version?
    -Which characters were added…?
-Would you like to see Jean Claude Van Damme as a playable fighter?
    -And…Shoryuken, or Tatsumaki-Senpū kyaku?

    • NaelAM

I’m pretty sure your first question was answered a couple weeks ago

      • QBasic

That was a couple of weeks ago… :<

Remember SE and their FFXIII stunt? Not saying Capcom is ruled by the mighty fist of Yoichi-Dickhead Extraordinaire-Wada, …but, ya never know, right?

  • Yeah questions about new stuff is all I’ll want to know. Otherwise everybody else comments summed it up for me.

Good Luck and thank you Spencer for the upcoming interview. ^__^

  • Roto13

Can I have my Samurai Pizza Cats now?

  • Tye The Czar

Original Soundtrack, Motherhubbard! Do you have it?!

  • sdragon21

Will Charlie from Street Fighter Alpha, Felicia from darkstalers, and Strider Hiryu possibly be in the game???

Because i needz me some cel shaded strider!!!

  • RhapsodyRed

Yesh ;3 Will the next Capcom vs series game get any anime character aside from tatsunoko?

  • rob12

will the game be ever ported to the 360 or ps3?

  • Anon

    1. When will we learn the identity of the new characters? (Charlie from Street Fighter Alpha would be my choice if taking fan opinion.)

    2. Will the individual character themes be present in the final build of the game?

    3. Was licensing issues the only reason Hakushon Daimao was removed from the game? It seems odd a character so obscure would be the only victim of licensing disputes.

    4. Will players be able to choose between English and Japanese voice tracks?

    5. Will characters still have individual animated endings?

    Thank you.

  • thaKingRocka

i think siliconerans sounds more natural.
is there any chance we would be allowed to forgo all the nonsense and just have the option to unlock all the goodies? i’m sick and tired of “unlocking.” i leave that business to the mistress of said activity.
should they deny us the option of immediate full access to our purchased product, please ask if save games will be copy-protected.

    • I use Siliconphiles!

  • @Everyone – Thanks for all of the questions!

I managed to ask a fair number of them before the 3 PM-ish cutoff time. Look for the interview to pop up next week.

If they say no online will be available, then walk away.
