Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Sword Chronicles Breaks Away From Fighting

After seven Naruto: Clash of Ninja fighting games in Japan, Tomy is taking the license in a new direction with Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Sword Chronicles.

This upcoming Wii game is an action game that gives Naruto a scroll laden outfit and a glowing dragon sword. He uses this sword to battle enemies and Team Snake. Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Sword Chronicles appears to use a brand 3D new engine since it doesn’t have cel-shading like the Clash of Ninja titles. Check out Famitsu for a few more screenshots.

Tomy plans to release Dragon Sword Chronicles on November 26 in Japan. No plans have been announced for a North American release and it’s unclear if Tomy USA will include this content in Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3. I wouldn’t count on it though since the game we’re getting in North America this holiday season is a fighting game with online play.

I like how horribly animated the enemies are in comparison to naruto.

You mean how horrible the skin on that model looks. Animation is when it's in motion, not the quality of the image.

Semantics, you obv. understood what I meant.

This game doesn't look very impressive.

Team Snake has a very weak presence so far (hardly compensated by their bright hair color) since they're just Sasuke's lackeys and don't really do much, at least they haven't fought w/ Konoha yet.. just not as cool and menacing as some of the past characters. I'm glad the anime has finally gotten back on track. They really should do a kick ass HD game that focuses on fighting instead of missions on the PS3/360, like Pain using Shinra Tensei and such.

Anime back on track? Haha, don't make me laugh. They just had the guest animator do the last episode, he chooses which he wants to do, and he always delivers.

It's gonna continue sucking except for the rare gem every 20-40 episodes.

Anime fillers were there because the manga needed to get far enough ahead w/o being caught up, and the manga is almost ending now, so I don't see the need to do more fillers at the moment (Deidara vs Sasuke at volume 40, and Jump is at about volume 49). It's better that way instead of having filler content throughout every episode dragging to snail pace. I just skip the big filler arcs and watch the canon anyway. I'm excited to see the Sasuke vs. Itachi fight soon.
