Okamiden In Glorious Motion

You’ve seen Chibiterasu. You’ve seen screenshots. Now have a tiny taste of Okamiden before Capcom unveils it at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

While Okamiden isn’t the HD game some people are dreaming of, being on the DS has some advantages like using the stylus as a paintbrush. As a concept, I dig it and it should make drawing easier than waving a remote.

you know, the game doesn’t look as bad as everyone was making it out to be. I still wish it was on Wii for a different reason (too lazy to rewrite it again, I wrote a whole spiel on the first Okamiden post). But since I cannot change the system, I’m just glad it’s on one I actually own.

“the game doesn’t look as bad as everyone was making it out to be”

Well, people usually tend to think and react in a polarized manner. Typical reactions come as either “awful” or “beautiful” in situations like this, as well as “best announcement ever” or “stupidest decision ever” and “it’s going to awesome” versus “it’s going to suck.” I guess in someways people can’t be blamed for preemptively making such reactions when they’re still in a state of shock, especially when something else was desired.

I’m just as guilty of this myself…

With this game I’m remaining optimistic, despite concerns, and I’ll give it a chance someday. For me this new video has added extra relief to me as it has added some new concerns. My liking of this game won’t be decided by initial reactions, but by the playing the final product.

It’s nowhere near “bad” in terms of looks, and bitching about what a game isn’t is pointless.

Your post gets the MadMirko seal of approval.

100% agree with you. Actually I think that it looks great, and is true that some elements of Okami will be missing, but I’m sure that there will be some new elements that will make this game awesome and unique.

Looks nice in motion and the small things like seeing the flowers come after Chibiterasu runs melts me! Glad to see nice care of it so far. TGS can’t come soon enough!

I wasn’t the biggest Okami fan, but my god Chibiterasu makes me need this game. The graphics are lovely for a 3D DS game, too.

  • I agree, it doesn’t seem so bad. It looks like fun having a portable Okami gameplay. And Chibiterasu has to be one of the cutest animal characters this gen. I’m just worried about the camera though but I’m sure that’s worked out fine.

  • It’s looking a lot better, I’m definitely going to check this out when it’s released!

Definitely looks better in motion. I still need to finish Okami first, I gave up at the beginning because I got frustrated w/ the Wii remote not picking up my swing, slicing a rock in half took a dozen tries.. so I planned on picking up the PS2 ver and hopefully can find the original black label (can’t stand greatest hits). I can imagine gameplay being a lot smoother w/ the DS stylus.

I want that pre-order bonus fan, wonder if it’s in actual size.

    • Aoshi00

doh, the fan is not a pre-order bonus, it’s a gift to those who demo play the game at an event :(…

I’d like to see if the boss battles will be as epic as Okami. The game looks good, I just can’t wait for TGS… Let’s hope for a new trailer!
