What Is Nintendo’s "Last Story"?

An indecipherable trademark from Nintendo popped up in Japan. The house of Mario registered the rights to The Last Story.

What’s interesting about The Last Story is the trademark is registered Japan, but the words are in English. Nintendo usually files names for upcoming games in Japanese… unless the name is tied to an international release. For instance, Nintendo registered the rights for Glory of Hercules in English a few months before they made an official announcement.

Hmm… what could The Last Story be?

    Nintendo’s final fantasy lol.

    THE LAST STORY VII hahahaha.

    *looks around frantically for approval*

    guys??? ….. guys?

  • Advent_Andaryu

The Legend of Zelda: The Last Story? Could this be the 2nd Wii Zelda name?! I doubt it actually… It seems to me that they would have to trademark it all instead of just ‘The Last Story’.

    Knowing Nintendo it’s probably a DS game…

next Retro Studios game? New IP? New name for the new Monolith RPG? New game from Inteligent Systems?

Color me interested, Last Story implies that it should be a story driven game.

Localized name for Monado: Beginning of the World perhaps?

    • EvilAkito

Doubt it. That’s a game that I expect will stay in Japan… just like Soma Bringer.

      • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

I feel sad because that may happen. :<

Monolith Soft games are like Level 5 games, you cannot leave those in Japan.

        • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yea, it sucks. Soma Bringer is one of the best DS RPGs around, too. Huh, I wonder if this could be for another Metroid game. Doubtful, but Metroid: The Last Story sounds plausible.

    Nintendo: The End

For some reason, I first thought of Sakurai-sensei’s project. But that’s an interesting title. I’m curious.
Of course, maybe they’re working on something with a foreign company, so that could explain the title. But that’s less likely, right? ouo’

    • Joanna

yeah, the same thing popped into my head (that it’s Sakurai’s secret project). But it could be a lot of things….

      • puchinri

        I’m leaning toward hoping it’s Sakurai’s project.
And that’s true. I just hope we don’t have to wait eternity to find out something about it.

It would make sense, that or Retro’s new game. I’ll go and side with you here. :)

      • puchinri

        I forgot about Retro.
Hehe, yeah~. Here’s to hoping it is.
And your name reminds me of Klonoa. Was that intentional?

Why did I think about Squaresoft’s Live A Live? Just like with the riddle surrounding tootsie pops, the world may never know.

    • Dasuzero

if you’re suggesting, through premonition, perception or preexisting knowledge, that Nintendo is working on such a style of game and/or working with significant staff members from the Live-a-Live team, I’d just like to say two things:

      1. I will anticipate it heavily

      2. I will prepare for severe disappointment

      • http://www.nisamerica.com NickyD

XD I am also prepared for severe disappointment, as my fleeting thoughts are quite random and for some reason I thought of that game back from my good ol’ emulation days. It was aaaawesome.

  • AsherM

Out of curiosity, where do you guys happen to find these trademarks?

  • xthlon

They are going to close down? and this is their last project? naaa… cant be…. Nintendo is too old to close down…. (o.O)

Hope its a Zelda that wont UTTERLY FAIL like “Twilight Princess”…
