More People That Really Love Love Plus

By Ishaan . September 13, 2009 . 11:30am

There are different ways to show love. One way is to be like this guy and buy eleven copies of the game. Or you could take your virtual girlfriend out on a date.

He’s not the only one either. Tiny Cartridge has a bunch of pics of real life Love Plus dates, including one guy that took all three of his copies out together. I don’t know whether to feel bad for these people or to pump my fist and think, “Go Love Plus!”

The BEST way to show love, however, is this.

Ishaan’s note: I knew that “Games are evil” tag would come in handy.

So what the hell does she get to eat? Or is he gonna make her spring for the meal?

  • I wonder if he uses that multiplayer mode when he’s triple dating…

A little scary, I wouldn’t be caught dead playing this even on the bus.. I don’t know, the original Tokimeki Memorial back in the days was a national phenomenon in Japan (made fun of in an US newspaper article), so I guess it’s more acceptable there. Plus the girls are really damn cute.

The cool thing though is the girls can actually call out player’s name, rather than the usual “silence” in other games no matter how you name your character. So I guess that makes it a bit more personal.

I’m definitely going to check this out if I haven’t bought some many shmups recently, and waiting for the upcoming Mushihime-sama and FF XIII. It’s got great reviews on Amazon Jpn, 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 95 users.

    • I don’t know, I’ve played TM (girls side) on the train but, I’m not comfortable with it. Not because someone else could watch, they woudn’t understand whats it about anyway, but because there is something utterly wrong with a guy declaring his love for you while you are in a crowded train and can hear parts of the conversations of the people around you.

That, and I fail to take such things seriously, so people would start wondering why I suddenly burst out laughing at yet another cheesy overused line.

      • Aoshi00

Exactly, these things are supposed to make the player feel warm and fuzzy, it’s the perfect and innocent high school romance that we all dream of but never actually happened in real life (not sure if I’m too old for this stuff now..)

If I’m playing this on the bus, guy sits next to me would probably think I’m a creep or something, looking at a bobbing anime head. But w/ portables and public transportation so prevalent in Jpn, I guess it’s not that weird to see people playing all sorts of games, plus dating sim is more acceptable over there.

I’ll have to read up more reviews from Amazon Jpn to see if this game is for me, seems like player really needs to be attentive to take care of the girl.

    • That’s where you and I differ, my friend. Ever been to that site People of Walmart? Now, those are the people who hath no shame!

Truth is, people are too busy paying their bills to care what you do, so have at it!

      • Aoshi00

People of Walmart, funny.. I actually seldom go there since it’s not near where I live. I’m too tired during commute anyway, I would probably fall asleep when the girl is in the middle of her confession.

  • Joanna

I just hope this is all done for laughs and not for real. (although, I don’t really find it funny, more embarrassing/shocking)

    • I think it’s both, but I guess if that makes them happy – any love is good love.

Rinko, someday I’ll break you out of your firmware castle….

  • CleruTesh

I see this is a DSi in the picture, perhaps for the next version they can allow her to “see” and know what you are trying to feed her? Then she could complain to him that he’s being cheap for taking her out to Wendy’s.

    • Aoshi00

Look at the cheese.. I think the guy had to skimp on the chow after he spent all his money on multiple copies of Love Plus, lol.. But yeah, in real life, eating out w/ a girl takes a budget. It’s funny there’s the argument of 2D vs. 3D, now these “2D” girls are technically in 3D. Well, at least Minaguchi Yuuko’s sweet voice is real, I used to love her voice so much and still do. I’m glad this game isn’t using some inexperienced new seiyuu.

    • I was just thinking of that!!!
For the next game, you could take pictures of yourself with your video game lover and in the background it could show the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower, etc. Or the wedding picture you took together since you’re married after all – or any other events.

The next step is using the facial features of you and your girl then combine them to “make” kids.

I am genuinely worried about VN Translations/TLWiki spreading themselves too thin–we haven’t heard a peep from them about [email protected] SP in ages.

More importantly, you can get chili cheese fries at Wendy’s in Japan, but not here?! Give me a break! I didn’t even know they had Wendy’s in Japan!

    • CleruTesh

Yeah, there was an article on here awhile back that mentioned McDonald’s in Japan sells shrimp burgers. Japan gets all the awesome food. I bought some mini shrimp after reading that article, and put them on a burger, and YES, it is as good as it sounds.

  • Kuza21

I find it pretty amusing. I don’t think the person who took the picture was serious…at least I hope not. -__-.
