The First Tecmo / Koei Franchise Crossover

By Spencer . September 23, 2009 . 8:31am

Tecmo and Koei, now one under the Koei Tecmo umbrella, are dabbling with crossover content for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Special.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 includes costumes from the upcoming PS3/Xbox 360port, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Special. You can dress Ryu up as Zhao Yun and make Ayame look like Sun Shang Xiang.

Team Ninja is returning the favor by lending Ryu Hayabusa to Omega Force. The star of Ninja Gaiden will make a cameo in Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Special as a playable character, but only for the PS3 version. Xbox 360 owners get Nu Wa from Warriors Orochi instead.

We’re one step closer to Dead or Alive Warriors, people!

  • That or Samurai Beach Volleyball.

    • Yes, but will it be “Xtreme”?!?!?!

      • Maybe they’ll acquire D3 Publisher and we’ll get Samurai Bikini Squad Gaiden Extreme!

        • Pre-order, please! Haha

          • I didn’t know where else to mention this: I’m loving Mana Khemia 2. :D

          • Hahaha, I am too! Thanks.
I’ve been working on Last Rebellion and Sakura Wars more than I’ve been able to play MK2, sadly. Curious about either of those? =) There’s gotta be a way to PM on here.

          • There isn’t. At least not as far as I can tell. >< I have my Facebook listed on my Disqus profile though. Does that help?

And yea, Sakura Wars does look like something I'd like. :D

    Yeah, more fanservice! D:

    • QBasic

You make it sound like that’s a bad thing.

Oh wait….Koei’s Warriors series now plagues our Ninja Gaiden……. Yeah. That *is* a bad thing. T_T

We haven’t gotten one positive crossover bonus from the merger of NamcoBandai or SegaSammy yet so this is cool

I guess Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest Itadaki Street PSP counts as a crossover for Square-Enix

  • How about Fatal Frame with Samurai Warrior characters as ghosts?

    • Tofuuu

I was thinking more along the lines of Zhuge Liang suddenly ending up in a haunted japanese village and uses his 1337 magic skillz to vanquish them all!!!! Who needs the Camera Obscura when you got his… FEATHERED FAN OF DOOM?!?!?!?!

Actually… I think all you’d need would be Cao Cao or Oda Nobunaga and those ghosts would be runnin’ :D

To be honest I would have expected Ryu to appear in Samurai Warriors 3 before Multi Raid, considering that he’s a ninja and all. They could have probably cooked up a fun scenario that pits Ryu against Hattori Hanzo and/or Kotarou Fuuma.

I have 360 instead of PS3 and the addition of Nu Wa to Multi Raid Special is just as much good news as getting Ryu. She was one of the best fighters in Warriors Orochi II, so she’s not just an empty consolation guest character. (Though I don’t see why it’s just her getting added and not her counterpart Fu Xi as well…his lack of fanservice appeal?)

I can see why some people would be bothered by this but they are just Costumes, nothing that will actually degrade Ninja Gaiden, unlike DOA4 whos terrible Spartan character made the game even more unbalanced. Though I can’t believe Ryu will be in Strike Force, I dont see the point to that he will likely just be a “re-skin” type character that just looks different but plays like all the rest, also I find it interesting that he is a PS3 “exclusive” character, seems like Tecmo is trying to distance their characters from only being associated with Xbox. the Koei Tecmo merger never bothered me though, neither company wants Team Ninja to become watered down so I dont think there is much to worry about.

Itagaki left. The worst is over. There’s nothing but improvements left for Team Ninja.

I’m actually excited for that Metroid game because they are involved and I havent been excited about Metroid since the very first game

I hear you on that, Itagaki is such a J.O.
