Front Mission Evolves Next Spring

Square Enix’s Mechwarrior style Front Mission game is slated for a worldwide release in spring 2010. Players can pilot Wanzers, mecha in the world of Front Mission, and assault them on foot.

Double Helix, the developers of Silent Hill: Homecoming and Front Mission: Evovled, may have been inspired by Dimps. Take a look at the still.

Japanese blog Hachimaki points out Front Mission: Evolved’s man vs. mecha scenes are reminiscent of Mobile Suit Gundam: Operation Troy. Interesting observation. The interface looks similar too, but since Operation Troy was only released in Japan these sections will be new for us.

Heh, it’s funny seeing a giant robot holding a tiny little gun like that.

  • I love Front Mission and I really hope this ends up being a fun game. I never got to finish FM5, but what a great series in general. Did anyone ever play Front Mission Online? I always wondered how it played.

Based on the hands on I read for this game those on foot missions are anything but fun, most things I read on this game said it was pretty sloppy. I am actually kind of sad to hear this is releasing so soon as that means most of the problems will not be fixed.

Wow this new installment of Mech Warrio…I mean Front Mission has absolutely terrible character design. Not sure about the gameplay after the TGS vids either. Anyone know if Hideo Iwasaki even involved in the project?

No thanks Square!!! Just give us Front Mission 2089:BoM translated on DS instead.

    FM5 > all. IMO

This one….well to be honest is really good, I can’t deny it. I going to play it that’s for sure….but….It just I prefer his old SPRG style, with those graphic and what I saw in FM5 it could be an excelent SRPG.
