imageNamco Bandai’s RPG countdown clock evaded an early Famitsu reveal, but may have been leaked another way.

Japanese blogs are reporting Digimon Story: Lost Evolution, a new Digimon RPG for the Nintendo DS is slated for 2010. Could this be the game Namco Bandai is teasing?

In addition to Digimon Story, Dragon Ball DS 2 Assault! Red Ribbon Army, a sequel to Dragon Ball DS is scheduled to ship on February 11 and it’s also for the DS.

  • "It's just a little airborne! It's still good, it's still good!".

Well, here's hoping it still might be Guadia Quest.
  • Oh, I hope it's not Digimon. I was really looking forward to something else
  • errrrrrrrr ok ........ this is still not oficial i wont abandon hope just yet ...
  • I...wouldn't do that if I were you. The URL hinted at a Bandai property. This has to be it.
  • ElTopo
lol thats just so sad. Is Digimon still big...anywhere?
  • You know, I don't know. I never was a big Digimon fan and never paid attention to the games. I guess we'll see what sales are like in Japan when this game releases...
  • MisterNiwa
I am sad that it is Digimon.
  • To be fair, I'm not 100% sure it's Digimon, I'm filling in the gaps here. But there is a Digimon RPG in the pipeline and as Ishaan notes the URL suggests the RPG is a Bandai property, not a Namco one.

Digimon is a Bandai property so....
  • MisterNiwa
Is this actually a RPG that anybody wants nowadays!?
  • jarrodand
lol. First Keroro, now this... Bandai ruins everything.
  • Seems like most people are quite disappointed, myself included.

The last Digimon game I played on the GBA (a present from a friend) was a disappointment and even though it was a while ago, I can't help but imagine this game will probably play more or less the same.
  • I feel as if a million voices were crying in excitement, and then were suddenly disappointed.
  • Pichi
Looking forward to Dragon Ball 2 DS. Had a feeling they'll make a sequel.
  • er, really? like, has any digimon games ever been treated like this? with teaser or countdown or stuff like that? i don't think it's digimon. it's something else, though i'm not so sure it's a big title we all expect. probably gonna revive old IP...
  • Another shameful marketing ploy successfully executed. Hook, Line, and Sinker. I think we've been burned enough by our own vivid imaginations with countdowns. Why do we torture ourselves so much?! =) Well, hey, it may not be a popular series, but everyone around the world was talking about Namco Bandai for a bit, right? Guess that should make some PR people happy.
  • I don't believe this...
  • epy
Dissapointing doesn't quite cover it. As jarrodand said, first Keroro, now this. Feels like Bamco is just trolling us.
  • It would be pretty funny if the countdown turned out to be a Rickroll.
May as well be, it seems.
  • Saturnus
rofl is this for real? All that hype for another Digimon RPG... For DS?

well maybe there is a bit of hope that this is not the RPG they intended to reveal.
  • Ereek
This. This is why I do not get myself excited over countdowns anymore.

    Especially from Bamco.
  • Habimaru
    HELL YEAH DIGIMON!
  • Maybe KOS-MOS will make a cameo appearance.

    *runs*
  • *whaps*
  • Something fishy is going on here.

First, has Jump ever leaked this early?

Second, the art on the website seemed something that would've been made for a console release, has Bandai ever made that kind of 3D art for a DS Digimon game before?

And there were already two DS Digimon games, and Bandai's site (and now Bandai Namco's site) has lited a Digimon game for Wii for a long while.

Why are they putting out a 3rd DS game while having released NONE for Wii even though they've been planning to for ages?

I wouldn't be surprised and am actually hoping that the leak is fake and it's actually a Digimon game for Wii, I figured it was Digimon, but a Wii release after listing it for so long seemed far more logical than yet another DS release.
  • TheCleaningGuy
    It can't be...
    Can it?
  • wildarms
nice! well i liked the digimon games though, the ds ones werent good, the digimon 3 was excellent
  • TokyoGuy
    Wow...what a disappointment.
  • kupomogli
There's only one Digimon game I've played and it's a PSX ripoff of Super Smash Bros. It's not really good per se, but it's pretty fun.
  • Digimon?

    Really?

That's it, I give up on Namco Bandai.
  • Kuza21
    You gotta be kidding me...
  • PKMongoose
Oh now come on. The Digimon RPGs for the DS are actually pretty decent. Everyone just bums on it for being similar to Pokemon.

I DARE any of you to actually try one of the Digimon DS RPGs and say they're horrible. I DARE YOU.
