See The New Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition Costumes

By Spencer . November 19, 2009 . 2:07am

Capcom will release two Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition costume packs. One of them gives Chris the warrior outfit from the PC version and Sheva a sexy folklore dress.

Here’s Sheva in her new folklore outfit.

And this is Chris dressed like a warrior. Since Capcom is using content from the PC version Sheva’s business woman outfit should be in Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition too.

In Japan, you can buy Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition in stores, but only the PlayStation 3 version. The 4,990 yen ($56) Blu-ray disc includes:

  • Resident Evil 5 (the original version)
  • Versus mode DLC
  • All of the extra episodes — Lost in Nightmares and the unnamed second episode
  • Additional costumes
  • Extra figures
  • The Mercenaries Reunion (a revised mercenaries mode with extra characters)

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will also be sold as DLC. Currently, this is the only way to get the content if you own the Xbox 360 version. Instead of selling one massive download, Capcom is breaking Alternative Edition into four packs.

  • Lost in Nightmares – the extra episode in Spencer’s mansion, extra figures, and two Mercenaries Reunion characters for 500 yen / 400 Microsoft Points.
  • Costume Pack 1 – two costumes, two Mercenaries Reunion characters, and extra figures for 200 yen / 160 Microsoft Points. The mercenaries reunion characters may be Chris and Sheva in other outfits since Folklore Sheva is listed as a “character” on the official site.
  • An unannounced episode, extra figures, and two Mercenaries Reunion characters for 500 yen / 400 Microsoft points.
  • Costume Pack 2 – two more costumes, two Mercenaries Reunion characters, and extra figures for 200 yen / 160 Microsoft Points.

The total price for Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is 1,400 yen ($15) or 1120 Microsoft Points. Interestingly, none of the packs mention motion control which was previously announced as an added feature. Perhaps, that will be released as a patch when the PlayStation 3 motion controller comes out in spring. Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is slated for February 18, 2010 in Japan.

“The total price for Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is 1,400 yen ($15) or 720 Microsoft Points.”

    Maybe you mean 1120 MSP.

I thought $15 was 1200 MSP? I just know it’s gonna cost a lot less this way. I would rather have a $20 disc with all the content. =P I’m such a nerd.

I just know that 400 + 400 + 160 + 160 is 1120. Anyway, I don’t think the normal conversion value applies here. Those darn MSPs, they just make everything more difficult.

Oh, you’re absolutely right. I just went with the $15 thing, as those games are always 1200 points. This is obviously not a single purchase. I hate when they add the 20′s on the end and such, just forces you to have to even it out later by purchasing more stupidly point items.

The 2 extra episodes as DLC at this price is a steal, finally one of the few useful DLCs (how it should be used in the first place). I alrdy have RE5 on 360, but I would wait until they announce if we’re getting the disc in the US or not, I want to try the wand motion control..

Since it’s getting a US release I’ll only buy it if it’s English in disc format. I hope the English audio is put on the Japanese disc if the US version isn’t getting a disc. If that’s the case, then I’m purchasing Biohazard 5 Alternate Edition. If the US version gets a disc release I’ll purchase Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition instead.

Pretty much all biohazard games has english VA, so its gonna be there regardless.

Hoping they release this as a disc in Asia on PS3… I’d import it because it would most likely be english. I own the regular edition for Xbox 360, but don’t care about the DLC and only want the Wii-like controls of the PS3 version. But seeing I don’t own the game on PS3, I don’t want to buy the same game again and then buy DLC, I’d rather just buy the Special version on disc.
