Dude Marries Love Plus Girlfriend

http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/loveplus_nene.jpgOh no, it’s not over yet. Love Plus’s reign of terror on society has only just begun. Lashing out against the bold act of mutiny on the part of the pitiful human alliance earlier this month, Love Plus’s Nene Anegasaki has seduced some poor bloke into marrying her.

Tiny Cartridge reports the unfortunate incident took place at a church in Guam. Apparently, "The newlyweds plan to hold a reception in Japan, and have invited the media to attend and view slides from their wedding and courtship." As a result, video streaming site Nico Nico will be broadcasting the event live on November 22.

I’m calling it; ten years down the line (maybe sooner), someone is going to make an absolutely fascinating documentary on this game.

Update: The reception has already been broadcast on Nico Nico as of this update. Thanks for the heads up, Sam!

  • That boys and girls, is what we like to call Digitality.

  • According to leobabauta its not a “legally binding” marriage, but that’s a big enough step for loving your games. It would pretty funny if the bride got cold feet and just disappeared.

4/7 tags for Love Plus under “Games are evil” – that’s setting the standard here on SE!

    • I know, right? Just when you think you’ve seen everything, Love Plus strikes yet again. I keep at it in the hopes that someday, someone will decide — just for the heck of it — to browse our “Games are evil” posts and see the fascinating evolution of Love Plus through the months (years?).

  • The reception already happened on Nico Douga today, about 8 hours ago to be exact. I watched part of it but had to go before it finished.

  • Oh Guam.. I know you’re home and all, and you need the attention apart from being a random Jeopardy question, but there’s better ways to do it XD

Why in Guam, just curious is that guy a Jpn or non-Jpn? I’m very conflicted about this game, honestly I’m not terribly interested in dating sims anymore, I just want to try this to see what all the hype is about. Then I ask myself do I want to play this game for 100 days consecutively… Reviews are conflicted as well, ranging from “Thank you Konami, I’ve finally made a girlfriend, never thought it would happen in my life”, or “This game is standard dating sim fare w/ the addition of mic that can only recognize simple Jpn phrases and overhyped”…

Question for me is should I spend the $8 Christmas coupon on Love Plus :)

  • Who wants pics from the live NND stream last night?

  • wtf?

Someone has to tell this man that there are better ways of getting attention. I’m assuming he isn’t serious. I mean you would have to be very special to believe you could marry and live with a program. If it was something like the persocoms from Chobits, then I could believe him to be serious, but a girl on a DS screen doesn’t relay any realism and it would take a very special person indeed to believe that a DS is a person.

    • Did you miss all the stories about people taking their Love Plus girlfriends out on dates and celebrating their birthdays?

      • I dont know u guys but this is making me curious to see what the hell is so good in this game?! ive always liked rpgs with some “dating sim” elements, but ive never tried a full dating sim..

        • We’ve covered some visual novels on the site before. They’re similar to dating-sims in the sense that you have girls you can go after, only there’s often a story and plenty of characterization involved. Look for the “Visual novel” tag and see if anything jumps out at you. :)

I thought we agreed those were done as a joke?

    • Asura

You would have to be very special to believe you could marry and live with a human as well.

But people still jump to it all the time.

      • Joanna

very funny sir. You are misusing my meaning of special. context is king. I used special in the sense that you would have to be special to delude yourself into thinking marrying a DS simulated marrying a person, clearly a DS does not look like or function like a person at all. The way you are using special is to mean forming an attachment with something, be it a DS or a person. Our uses are different. The chobits example illustrates this.

  • Nothing will surprise me anymore.

    • Don`t say that, you never know what one of them might do next. Officially divorce maybe.

      • Quintuplets?!
Makes me wonder if they’ll ever come out with a Love Plus: Daughter Edition, and complete your family.
Well, I guess that’s what Princess Maker is for.

I swear, that game was created by the same lucifer.
