Puzzle Quest Gets Proper Sequel

Puzzle Quest Galactrix? That was a sci-fi spinoff. Puzzle Quest 2 is the direct sequel to Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and it’s coming in spring 2010. “Puzzle Quest 2 returns with a captivating, rewarding, and accessible journey for gamers of all levels as the ultimate delivery system for the mental release puzzle gamers seek,” says Peter Andrew, Vice President of Product Development at D3 Publisher.

Infinite Interactive, the developers of the Puzzle Quest series, are working on Puzzle Quest 2 for Xbox Live Arcade and the Nintendo DS. The game uses the same match three formula with four new classes: War Mage, Inquisitor, Assassin, and Barbarian. The first set of screenshots and art focus on the Barbarian class, which uses red gems to crush enemies when pummel is activated.

  • Loved the first one but I hope the RPG aspect is improved.

    • Yeah, the RPG portion was pretty lackluster. Now I’m second guessing if I should buy Gyromancer or not.

      • Just a heads up, we’re going to have something on Gyromancer soon…

        • Oooh, the plot thickens! You’ve got my attention… =P

    • MadMirko

Yup, and more difficulty / balance please.I’m glad they are focusing on two platforms this time, should allow for more polish.

      • JeremyR

They actually just focused on two platforms the first time. Only after the success was it ported to everything in existence. (PSP and DS releaes were in March 07, 360 and PC was 7 months later)

And ironically, even though it was only on two platforms, it didn’t keep it from being a bug ridden mess on one of them (PSP).

        • Just adding that you forgot Mac, PS2, and Wii versions. Hahah. Wait, did PS3 also get it on PSN? That would just complete the circle. Sort of unbelievable, isn’t it Jeremy? I enjoyed the 360 version due to the “HD” Option where the menu’s were expanding into all that extra room. Easier on the eyes.

  • JeremyR

Well, drat, I was hoping it would be on more platforms than that. For that matter, was hoping it was a different publisher. Was really turned off by how D3 handled the various bugs in the PSP version (basically they said, it’s still playable, so tough)

  • awesome! i hate galactrix, and hopefully the new classes aren’t just cosmetic.
