Star Ocean: The Last Hope International Has Extra Characters

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International has more than Japanese voices and anime portraits. Square Enix’s European newsletter slipped news that the PlayStation 3 port has “additional characters.”

Who are they? The newsletter didn’t drop any names. There’s also a mention of “overhauled menus,” perhaps a clue that players will be able to change between the pastel Japanese and space-age English menu layouts.

Wow really!? I am so going to get it even more.

  • Kris

Awesome. I’m actually pretty excited for this, which is a surprise because I pretty thoroughly disliked SO3.

You and me both. I keep giving tri-Ace a chance, but man. Sometimes I wonder why.

Eventually they’ll give us another Valkyrie Profile 1…

If you thoroughly disliked SO3 (I did, too), I’m not sure if you should be going for this game. However, I won’t say to not try it. You never know, after all…

I’m a massive Star Ocean fan, having just recently bought this on 360 for £15 i’ve no qualms of paying again for the PS3 version. I’m not too far in so couldn’t guess at who those extra characters could be, maybe Welch? She already has a moveset!

On 360, Star Ocean: The Last Hope was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played this year, so playing through it again on PS3 is something I’d definitely like to do, but I think I’d better pick up the games I want that I haven’t played first…

I played the SO4 xbox360 version too, and I must admit that this was the JRPG I enjoyed the most this generation so far (even more than ToV, which is great too). I wonder how much is there going to be on the extra content, now announcing new characters…. I wonder if it’s worth the buy after playing the xbox360 version.

nice gonna be 1 heck of a release next year
    cant wait for it ^^

  • vrakanox

Please be Crowe, duel wielders FTW.

  • Xien12

Old news, but, yeah, it was never stated who the extra characters are.

    • Ereek

It’s not old news because it was never officially announced. They were rumors previously.

  • Hours

Every other Star Ocean re-release has done this so it’s nice to hear that they’re continuing the tradition of adding more characters to the game. (I think Welch has a good chance, but it would be cool to see some brand new characters too.) The overhauled menus and voice track selection are really great also.I hope this is just the start for Square-Enix (and other companies) allowing players the choice of vocal tracks, and other regionally designed game elements. There would be so much less complaining if consumers could just choose which elements they wanted. (If multiple choices are available that is.)

Maybe Jack Russell, more likely lenneth, and the black sheep… that guy from Resonance of Fate?

  • holyPaladin

Although it’s rumor already but it’s cool ^^

  • thebanditking

Awesome, I dont know who they could throw in but the more content the better.

  • saintfighteraqua

Not much a fan of Tri-Ace anymore, but I’m so glad I didn’t buy this on my 360.
For some reason I just can’t enjoy RPGs on a 360, maybe it’s how some people hate shooters on PS3…

  • ragnathebloodedge

i was going to buy this game on 360 since I own a 60 GB PS3 & XBOX 360 Pro. Personally I figured that it would be best to wait for an exclusive PS3 release. As SO4 Last Hope International is only on PS3. The same thing happenend to Tales of Vesperia. I can’t believe I got the 360 version, when it was going to head to PS3 with 20X more content than the 360 version got. Only exlcusive to PS3
