Deadly Premonition Is Amazon’s Deal Of The Day

imageDeadly Premonition, Marvelous’ first HD game, is a strange blend of Twin Peaks and fetch quests. It isn’t for everyone, but at $15 it might be worth picking up.

Today, that’s how much the Xbox 360 game costs since Deadly Premonition is Amazon’s Deal of the Day. Get it if you enjoy so bad they’re good B-movies, survival horror (but look past graphics) or if you like fishing. Seriously, there is a fishing mini-game in Deadly Premonition.

  • damn it, why can’t we get a PS3 version anyway? damn SCEA.

I dunno. I WAS excited about this game, but then I decided to watch some gameplay videos of it on Youtube. :(

      • … and then your excitement MULTIPLIED by INFINITY? ;)

    • Wake

There’s a PS3 version but you have to import it.

  • Mazen

I beat it but I don’t remember it having any fetch quests just detective segment and shooting segment.

    • Artavasdus

There are many subquests given by the npcs if you talk to them in the right moments. Maybe you went straight from one event to the other and didn’t have the chance to enotice them.

Also, this game is awesome despite its graphics and the 15$ price tag just screams “buy me!”.

      • Mazen

Yes I didn’t side track much.

  • This game is amazing. If you are looking to get Free Super Saver Shipping… buy TWO (2) copies of this game… it’s that AWESOME! :)

    • Aoshi00

I bought “Way of the Samurai 3” ($20) w/ this. I hope it’s fun, most people seem to have rated the game very high, at $15 it should be a steal.

BTW, 120–>250Gb data transfer works like a charm man, now both my US and Jpn system have plenty of space to install games :) Just make sure you delete game install since they don’t transfer.

      • Thanks! I guess I know what my next big purchase is going to be. :)

    • I bundled it with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona for 15 clams. Wow.
With so many great deals happening now it’s kind of hard to keep track of what I have coming my way already.

It was interesting watching the coverage of this game over the years. The impression I had has turned a complete 180 degrees now after reading a few reviews, but my excitement is still the same, if not greater.
At the very least, it was fun fallowing Agent York on Twitter.

As with most people who’ve actually given it a try, I loved every second of it. Well, minus how long it took to kill the wallcrawlers. Still, it’s quite an amazing b-movie style throwback to survival horror games of last gen.

In the related posts on the right hand side, there’s still a link to an article that claims you can play this game in English. Unfortunately, this is false.

    • For the Asian release? Well, apparently, there’s still English voices.

As for the audio clip, I hate the sound of “Without stepping on toes, …we considered publishing it on disc for PS3 in the U.S…”.
I’m going to try to keep track of these toes business and anything like it since I’m seeing it rear it’s head a bit lately. It won’t do any good, but this is crazy and something to not overlook.

Actually, there are no English voices according to these pictures: Even if there were English voices, the manual and all the in-game text is not, so I’m screwed. It’s ok though, because I didn’t want to spend $60 more than my 360 brothers. If Ignition doesn’t eventually bring it out, I’ll see if a PAL version ever comes out.

        • Further down the thread, the person that took the pictures even said the voices are in English, though.
The Japanese site has English voices in the trailer

The Playstation-Asia site uses the same trailer

No English text, though. Not having played the game, yet, I can’t say if it’s import friendly (if full price for import is friendly enough for this game), but Giant Bomb has a couple “Endurance Runs” for the game that could give you an idea about what to expect:

Still, it’s too bad that even a game like this doesn’t get fair treatment, but what can you do…

          • Icon

You’re right. I noticed that after I posted the link, but didn’t notice it was the same person posting the pictures. I’d just feel like a goon paying $80 plus shipping for a game I’d only partially understand. I think I might pick up the 360 version 9if Ignition doesn’t announce a PS3 version at E3) and just hold on to it ’cause I’ll probably get a 360 one of these days.

As someone who liked Twin Peaks I really wish this wasn’t region locked against JP 360s, but aside from this game I’ve never had any desire for a US console.
