Nomura Discusses Cut Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Content And Xion’s Origins

By Spencer . April 12, 2010 . 12:48pm

imageIn a fan powered Q&A, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days director Tetsuya Nomura fielded a question about the lost Pinocchio level. Nintendo Power reported about a Pinocchio level in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, which wasn’t in the final game. What was this area like?

“Set in a circus and playing off the story of Pinocchio, a puppet with a heart, and the Nobodies who possess no heart, we planned for a sad episode with Roxas and Xion looking for hope for themselves,” Nomura disclosed.

Nomura also commented on how he came up with Xion. “The name Xion and her background story was thought of and constructed during the production of this title, but we actually had the concept for a girl character like Xion drawn up since Roxas’s defection from Organization XIII. Therefore during the production of this title, we just worked on expanding on the ideas we had for that girl character and wrote Xion’s story around that concept.”

Edit: Whoops, forgot about Larxene. I stand corrected!

Eh. :/ Still wouldn’t have saved the game…

Kingdom Hearts has gotten really old, really fast, really long time ago – KH2, to be exact. :/

Sometimes I feel like just about everyone except Nomura gets that. And…well, not counting the series’ fanbase. Cause believe me…I’ve BEEN to Gamefaqs. For every post, a braincell is lost… T_T

    Somebody hug me.

    • Well, obviously KH didn’t get “really old, really fast, [a] really long time ago” to that giant fanbase…and still hasn’t, yet. And probably won’t, ever, as long as there are cute anime boys in Nomura-couture to slash and draw fanart of.

Time to give up and move on now. There are plenty of other ARPG franchises on the shelves to enjoy. Don’t know why all the people who think Kingdom Hearts has hit rock bottom and gotten out the backhoe are still wasting their valuable time wishing things would change.

Well, if it’s any consolation, I still kind of like the gameplay. Well…except Days. That was a whole lot of turd, and 2 years of wasted development in virtually every respect.

So yeah. The story’s irredeemable, but like, I’m not yet to the point where I can’t even stand the gameplay. I’m even thinking about picking up BBS when it’s out, cause I’m really digging the whole Deck Command thingy.

Oh please BrotherCavil, get over yourself!

        *sigh* >_>

Now do you see what I’m talking about? Unless you’re one of them…at which point, I’ll have to condemn you to a thousand smitings from God.

        God. Smite thee.

Rest assured. He’s got some planned for you….

My, my…that was horrifying. I can’t believe it goes on for 18 pages.

  • Xion would be the second female Organization member, next to Larxene.

  • so larxene is a transsexual ?

  • discoma

“Nomura also commented on how he came up with Xion, the only female member of Organization XIII.”

Larxene would like to have a word.

  • I know KH2 meant that the game was only going to end in a certain way but 358/2 is the first game I’ve played in a long time with such a (canon) depressing ending.

Wouldn’t mind Roxas and Xion having a part to play in KH3 (although they need to simplify the horribly convoluted XIII and ansem stuff)

  • playing the heck out of 358/2 kept me sane while I was stuck in a crappy men’s mission
