Rocket Knight Returns To Consoles Next Week

By Spencer . May 5, 2010 . 10:36am

After a fifteen years, Sparkster, the opossum with a rocket pack, returns to consoles and the Kingdom of Zephyrus. He discovers his homeland is under attack from wolves and pigs, the enemies in Rocket Knight Adventures, are defending the town. Axel Gear, Sparkster’s old nemesis, also took the title of Rocket Knight in his absence.

The world may have gone topsy-turvy, but Rocket Knight sticks with the basics. Players fly with a jetpack, attack with a projectile shooting sword, and bounce off walls. Konami even made a classic mode where players run through the entire game without any continues. Too hardcore? Rocket Knight’s regular mode has a level select and save points.

Climax Group, the studio behind Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Sudeki, developed Rocket Knight for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. You can download Rocket Knight next week for $14.99 or 1,200 Microsoft Points next week.

I really hated this game when I played an earlier version of it. The remake is lazy, and the level design is ridiculously bad. There was absolutely nothing that made me want to continue forward through levels. They were skimpy on the bosses too.

I was really excited about getting to play Rocket Knight again after so long.

But I was not aware that Climax Group was behind it. Climax has never made anything that wasn’t garbage.

I was also unaware that that Sparkster was a opossum. I’ve learned a lot today.

So far the most horrible remake has to be TMNT Re-shelled. I played Turtle in Times for years back then and the remake was pure garbage and I’m sry I spent $5 on it :(..

I loved Rocket Knight Adventures for the Genesis and Sparkster for the SNES. Did not enjoy the Genesis version of Sparkster, however. This game really just looks like crap if you ask me.

Seems companies are starting to go the way of doing games such as Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins, Mega Man Powered Up, Maverick Hunter X, and Dracula X Chronicles except unlike the ones I just listed, the ones that are released on PSN and XBL happen to suck.

TMNT was crap and from the looks of it this one will be as well.

  • It’s too early to be sure, but all available media tells me they should have let M2 (Wii Rebirth series) handle this. I don’t get this trend of giving traditional titles to western developers.
