Unannounced Square Enix Game “Will Blow Your Socks Off!”

By Spencer . May 5, 2010 . 6:50am

imageSquare Enix is back with another Twitter tease. This one is a bit different since it comes from their North American branch.

David Hoffman, Director of Business Development and Executive Producer of Supreme Commander 2, chirped that he “is knee deep in review for project X. When revealed it will blow your socks off! The media thought SE and GPG was interesting – just wait!”

SE stands for Square Enix and GPG is for Gas Powered Games, the studio behind the Supreme Commander 2 series. Since Hoffman’s gig is acquiring IP and diversifying Square Enix’s portfolio of games this announcement probably isn’t related to anything starting with “final” or ending in “quest”.

Seems like Hoffman is hinting that this announcement is going to catch the media off guard too. Hmm… perhaps this is related to the mysterious Mindhack trademark.

  • A Sqeenix FPS!
or if looking from the fact the SE owns Eidos, could it be something like that?

You know what’d really blow my mind and prolly catch the media off guard?

If Square announced that FFXV was in development at an American studio and Tomb Raider at a Japanese one…

  • symytry

    I’m already disappointed.

  • TomSkylark

    “Chrono Break?!”

… and while I’m at it, I’d like a flying, telepathic pony that can complete my dissertation for me and still let me take all the credit.

  • malek86

    Legacy of Kain RPG?

    … riiiiight.

  • leeorv

damn, I thought the sequel to Final Quest XIV is due for sure! silly me…

  • cowcow

This whole Westernizing of Square-Enix fails to impress me

    • Hraesvelgr

It isn’t new. Square has had “Western” games dating back to their SNES days, with games like Secret of Evermore. Personally, I have no issue with them making a “Western” game, I’m just waiting for them to make a good one.

      • cowcow

The thing is they aren’t the one’s “making” it; they’re just publishing it. So that’s why I could care less

        • Hraesvelgr

Fair enough. Actually, I can kind of agree with that, at least until they start publishing better non-SE made games.

  • fallen

The only way I’ll start buying SE games again is if they’ve partnered with the Chrono Resurrection team.

That said, I agree with symytry’s comment, because that will never, ever happen.

I don’t know how much credibility this picture has for upcoming E3 press releases, but there’s something really interesting listed there related to SE:

    • TomSkylark

Sorry, I must be missing what you’re referring to, or your eyes are better than mine. What am I looking for?

      • Raiyu

If you look under Square Enix, SE has Kingdom Hearts 3 and Vagrant Story 2 listed….

    • speedstersonic

Not credible, Atlus had nothing to do with Demon’s Souls production other than localizing it. So they wouldn’t have it listed for E3 under their name, it would be under Sony’s.

    • symytry

you mean the FFVII HD under Sony exclusive? No thanks. Been there, done that. They just need to give Matsuno a pile of money and publish whatever he wants to make.
