Dead or Alive Is Going 3D(S)

Tecmo Koei, to our knowledge, have three games announced so far for 3DS. From Koei, you have Samurai Warriors, for which we saw screens earlier in the week. From Tecmo, Nintendo mentioned a Ninja Gaiden game at their press conference, and we also have screens of a Dead or Alive title.

Oh, and look…it appears Ryu has already made his first appearance on the 3DS.

i’m not sure how i feel about such a complex fighter appearing on a handheld. i already had some control problems on the console version so how can they make a smooth transition without any bumps and hiccups

    • cowcow

      3D jiggly boob physics

    • raymk

Doa is complex for you? Well that’s a first lol

  • Chow

Well, at least you can prop up the 3DS to sit without hands holding it, what with its clamshell design.

But wait, this isn’t a sim-Volleyball game. Foiled again.

  • Eddie

Soooooo I’m guessing you can play 3ds games on the ds lite?

    • andref

I doubt it, probably because it was made for 3D in mind

3DS’s graphical processing power is rather high, judging from the screenshots above, I highly doubt DS Lite can run the same game… You can definitely play DS Lite games on 3DS though, if that’s what you meant?

      • Eddie

Well, I kinda wanted to be a cheap ass and play 3ds games on my ds lite, but in the back of my head I had a feeling this wasn’t possible. Hopefully the 3ds will be backwards compatible to though. It just annoys me that companies can’t just come out with one thing for long now. Like all the iphones, ds handhelds, psps, and consoles. Sometimes it just makes you go wow I just bought my ps4 and 2 days later they release a ps5. Its just a really cheap way to cash in on customers. But enough of my ranting, I am a sucker so I will sell my ds lite and get a 3ds.

But the DS is six years old. :OI would be pissed as well if it was less than three, but six years with one handheld is pretty good.

          • Eddie

I guess I had more of a rant because my dsi is fairly new. I got the saga frontier dsi, so thats why i was grumpy. But what about those who got the ds large? Okay I know that was a lame example but really? Regardless I am gonna get a 3ds because it won me over and I honestly felt that Nintendo had the best press conference. 2004 2006 2009 2010 those were the years the ds, ds lite, dsi, dsi xl came out in north america. Its just like I really really like the 3ds but please! Let this one last at least 5 years without a new revision.

From your earlier post (http://www.siliconera.com/2010/06/15/the-giant-list-of-third-party-3ds-games/) the list states a Dynasty Warriors game too, which makes it four games from Tecmo Koei!

Can’t say I’m excited about this game because I haven’t been following the series, but it’s a good chance to try it again on the 3DS (when it releases). Hope that the analog pad works well.

I hope this one would officially be called: Dynasty Warriors: Dead or Alive.

    • kupomogli

      Preferably dead.

  • kylehyde

Even that I suck in fighting games, I’m pretty excited that the 3DS is having a good start in this genre, this and Street fighter 4 will two awesome adquisitions. Also fan-service and a fighting game in 3D sounds wonderful to me.

  • kupomogli

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much support on a new video game system in my life. Who wants to bet Nintendo threw some major cash around. It’s not like that they don’t have enough of it, being as the Wii prints money.

    • Joanna

I think the success of DS is more at work here than money. Otherwise Mircosoft should have had all the games back in the Xbox days.
