Fire Emblem: Mystery Of The Emblem Remake Includes Bonus Episode

imageA long time ago, Nintendo experimented with downloadable games for the Super Famicom. They launched a Satellaview system which beamed exclusive content like Broadcast Fire Emblem: Record of Akaneia Wars. Didn’t have a Satellaview? Then you missed out.

This episode, a prequel to Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, will be included in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem – Hero of Light and Shadow under the name Fire Emblem: New Record of Akaneia Wars.

The old version had four missions to play and appearances from characters like Princess Nyna. Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem – Hero of Light and Shadow comes out on July 15 in Japan.

I have to praise Nintendo for all the thought they’re putting into this remake, although, did they have to stick with the same characterless (battle sequence) sprites from Shadow Dragon? The bland art style totally put me off that game. Sure the inclusion of customisable character portraits adds something more to the mix but what’s the point when actual battle is so devoid of colour?

This is all well and good, but I’d like an English release of the game, because I’d really like to play it.

I hope this games makes it over before 3DS is released and NoA stops DS support.
