Facebook Files: What Localization Announcements Would You Like From TGS 2010? With the Tokyo Game Show coming up, it won’t be long until a bunch of us start to feel the pre-show excitement that usually accompanies the build-up to these events.

Typically, localization announcements aren’t made at TGS, but David suggested the thought in a Facebook thread and it occurred to me that this would make a whole lot of sense for more niche games, since TGS tends to be the event of choice to follow for people interested in those experiences.

With Tokyo’s game convention coming up, there’ll be many U.S licensor branch on hand. And if you could see any japanese-related game head overseas. Which would you want to see in U.S/Europe? For me — – Xenoblade & The Last Story

Metal Max 3.

TLS and Xenoblade are Nintendo games, so the chances of anyone else bringing those over are close to zero. Also, Nintendo don’t usually attend TGS, so I doubt you’ll hear of them at the event. I’m sure both games will make it over eventually though.

Personally, I’d still like to see a localization announcement for Last Bullet, but that’ll never happen. Also, I’m not sure TGS is the event for localization announcements…although, it would make sense for the more niche games.

So, what localization announcements would you like out of Tokyo Game Show, if any were to be made?

I want all the Tales for PS3 like Vesperia PS3 localized!

The weird part is the PAL version is actually fairly secure – Only a few games are listed region free on PAL. You’ll often get games that work on a Japanese and US 360, but not the PAL regions.

So yeah, it’s kinda screwy that way.

I’d like to see Atlus, Xseed, Aksys or someone (even Ignition) strike up a deal with Enterbrain for both Metal Max 3 and Earth Seeker.

Other than that, it’s mostly just DS games that’ve slipped through the cracks and I’m pretty sure we won’t see (7th Dragon, Retro Game Challenge 2, Sakura Note, etc).

    Anything Tales would be nice.

Melinda why must you make me a sad panda. :(

  • http://www.carpefulgur.com SpaceDrake

Really? That surprises me, I was under the impression that Annie did quite well. It reviewed solidly and seemed to move enough units to make it profitable…

  • http://www.siliconera.com Ishaan

    Not well enough. :(

But all I was noting was I’m late for my Japanese playtest of Fate/Extra. Neptune decided to stump me with a few gripes (and believe me, I want to clobber Compile Heart for THIS curveball…) which pushed back Fate/Extra even further.

… Unless you’re waiting for that one, in which case, I apologize.

I think I’ll announce the formal stream of the playtest (Like I said, blame Neptune for that one) eventually, although informally, I’ll probably just stream unannounced…

Yeah, I’m curious to hear what SE has to say about Fate/Extra.

Also looking forward to your clobbering Compile Heart. I’ll go make popcorn. :3

Oh, fie and damnation. Lina’s even better than Annie, too, it’s one of the best-reviewed Atelier titles in years in Japan. Bah, I was looking forward to that one, too.

… Wonder if there’s anything that can be done about this. Hm.

    Sakura Wars VI
    Versus XIII’s release date
    The Last Story
    Yakuza New Chapter: Black Panther

    AND DARKSTALKERS 4.

  • Hraesvelgr

The Last Story sounds pretty good to me, yeah.

  • Kibbitz

Count me in for Metal Max 3 too.

  • Kibbitz

Well, Fate/Extra has its fun moments, but it’s really nothing fantastic game-wise. Maybe in terms of story at best?

Masoukinshin: Lord of Elemental (DS), please! Although, to be honest, even if it does ever get localised, we can’t really expect any news until next year. =(

    But hey, one can hope!

  • Anonymous

Plainly stunned Prinny 2 hasn’t been announced for localization yet.

  • http://www.siliconera.com Melinda

Not the entire game – The game’s pretty polarising though – I’ve got to do the second draft for Neptune.

If I had to sum it up – It basically emphasises the best and the worst of a typical Japanese RPG.

  • Kibbitz

And there’s only 6 voice clips to dub! Easy =P

Final Fantasy VII Remake, Chrono Break, Grandia IV, Legend of Dragoon 2, Suikoden VI, Breath of Fire 6, Mega Man Legends 3.

Oh. Wait. None of those actually exist.

Worked for Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but yeah like Godmars said, main problem is Harmony Gold and their Nazi like hold on anything Macross/Robotech related

    Reginliev the Destroyer (Wii)
    Disaster: Day of Crisis (lol)
    Fatal Frame IV (lol)
    Another Code R (lol)
    Captain Rainbow (lol)
    Fate/Extra
    Catherine
    Neptune
    Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter
    The Last Story
    Xenoblade
    Tales of Graces F
    Tales of Vesperia
    Masoukinshin: Lord of Elemental
Another Century’s Episode: R (destroy Harmony Gold’s main office with an RPG or something)
    SRW NEO Last Ranker
    Deadly Premonition (PS3)

There is Rorona in a month maybe NISA don’t want to release Lina yet to avoid competition with themselve and if it’s not release maybe in xx years there will be a translation patch.

    My dream list of localizations:
Luminous Arc 3 (last game, don’t leave us fans hanging)
Radiant Historia (branching paths and time travel has me sold)
    Metal Max 3
7th Dragon (yes I still haven’t given up hope. why do I do this to myself?!)
    Catherine
Chocobo Tales 2 (Am I the only one who liked the first Chocobo Tales?! :’( )

Nintendo Wishlist (even though Nintendo won’t announce anything at TGS):
    ASH (yup, my pipe dream… :’( )
Fire Emblem: Warrior of Light and Dark (or something like that? Still waiting Nintendo)
    Last Window
Another Code R (is it really that hard to bring a game which already has an English localization?)
    Last Story
    Xenoblade

Mega Man Legends 3 may be closer than you think. I think that Capcom Unity has something floating around with Capcom’s first Comic Con’s press conference(not the one that announced Street Fighter X Tekken) that involved the Mega Man creator. I expect some form of an announcement at TGS.

Back on topic: Tales of anything is long over due.

Oh gees. I can’t believe I forgot, much shame on me. Hearing about a localisation of White Knight Chronicles 2 would be sensational.

    Not likely, however.
