Capcom is reviving the Steel Battalion series, but dropping the massive controller. Steel Battalion Heavy Armor uses Kinect to control Vertical Tanks.

Steel Battalion Heavy Armor takes place in Manhattan 2082 where, surprisingly, there is no Internet. All modern technology was lost as the world’s nations are constantly at war. The game begins with the American army landing in New York.

While previous Steel Battalion titles were created by Infinite Space developer Nude Maker, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is being made by Armored Core developer From Software. Look for Steel Battalion Heavy Armor next year.

  • Why would you even want to use Kinect to play these games; and people hype this up like its some awesome major relevant series…

I love Steel Battalion, but on Kinect just…no.

  • It must be something about $100+ exotic controllers that makes Steel Battalion games magically appear. I still keep my original Xbox around in hopes of finding the original for a price that doesn’t make my eyes water. But Kinect controls just don’t sound like as much fun.

If somehow Kinect makes me able to pull imaginary levels and switches in the air in my living room and have it correspond to controls in a mech, then I am so there.
