Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Unlocked In North America On January 11

By Spencer . October 6, 2010 . 3:15pm

KHRecoded_Announcement_07Following the European news, Square Enix announced a release date for Kingdom Hearts Re:coded in North America. We’re getting Sora’s adventure a few days before our PAL friends on January 11, 2011.

Chronologically, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts II. The story begins with Jiminy Cricket discovering a message in his journal, the one he kept when he met Sora in Kingdom Hearts. King Mickey digitizes the journal and discovers a datascape with the worlds from the first game.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded has some twists such as side-scrolling levels and RPG style fights in the Olympus Coliseum. Fans can also look forward to a "secret talk" that hints at future events in the Kingdom Hearts series.

very fast localization! just like namco

    • Guest

Namco loves us more. Look at how many Tales games we get. I have so many I don’t know what to do with myself

      • joesz

look on the bright side! at least tales of vesperia(xbox version) got released to the us 2 years and 3 months ago,

  • FireCouch

So, we get to play Kingdom Hearts 1 again? I already did that 2 times.

    • Ren

Yup, only with a modified BBS battle system and horrible camera controls, oh, and reused footage, lots of it, can’t forget that. Aside of it, it will be decent at least. It can’t be worst than Days(not that it was that bad, but the camera was horrible, and it was slooooooooow…).

  • Sweet. This looks to be an interesting game, if nothing else

  • People are really say this looks good? Have my eyes gone bad? Anyway, fan fictiony side stories. Good thing its coming out so fast, I assume we wont see another Kingdom Hearts until Winter 2012 then.

    • Ereek

Erm, what? Graphically it looks great for a DS game. I think your eyes have gone bad if you can’t see that.

      • Looks great? A great looking DS game is something like. TWEWY not this port of a mobile game.

        • KHSoraKeyBlade

TWEWY was a good looking game but I have to agree with Ereek this is graphically a great game for the DS and I know Square publish both TWEWY and KH so naturally both series look great. I mean the cut scenes in Days alone were fantastic for the DS’s standards even if there wasn’t a great deal of them. But from what I’ve seen so far gameplay-wise, Re:Coded is looking great.

          • BTA

I don’t get why everyone praises Days’ graphics. I mean, I guess it had good graphics for a DS game, but it still looked very… I can’t really describe it. You know how the edges of things in DS games look really… pixelly? (Is that the right word?) Anyway, it showed up a lot. Especially on their hair. And I remember getting somewhat annoyed when I realized that the pumpkins in Halloween Town were just 2D images that rotated to always face the camera. That was just strange.

As far as the game itself though, Days was fine once the plot picked up about halfway through. I don’t expect Re:coded to be nearly as good as BBS is, but hopefully it’ll still be fun…

          • The jagged edges are called “aliasing.” And the sprites always facing the camera are called “billboards.” :)

People generally judge how good portable games look by comparing them to other games on the same system. By those standards, most of Square’s DS games look great. The only similar game that I think looks better in some cases is Soma Bringer, but that uses hand-drawn backgrounds.

Of course, you have other types of games that look equally great in their own way, like Hotel Dusk. :)

    Meh, Pass.

I got Birth By Sleep to hold me over until 3.

  • The same worlds…. AGAIN. Lame.

  • keyboy7

I LOVE KH. LOVE IT. and ill buy this, i know i will.

and besides, as much as it pains me to say this, i feel like they have been slowly raping the original feel of the first game, even in kh 2. birth by sleep was a step in the right direction, but the portable aspect hurt it i think.
