Here’s your first batch of screenshots for Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney for the Nintendo 3DS. The game takes Phoenix and Hershel into a mixture of medieval fantasy and reality, and is being penned by original Ace Attorney director, Shu Takumi.

So I’m guessing a time machine exists at some point? Is this a Layton/Phoenix Wright/Time Travelers crossover?

  It’s like, the best of 3 worlds! Although, Layton has already traveled through time, huh? I haven’t played that one so I’m not sure how they explained it.

So is it really Layton vs Phoenix, as in against each other in the court room? That’s interesting. I thought they’d be partners

edit: closer investigation of the pictures shows that they are working together, mainly the two pics on the bottom

        Yeah, I was thinking something like that. There’s probably one court battle at the beginning where you’re rivals, but then story-elements force you to work together

One problem is how they seem to be using the two different styles together. I always thought that, if one were to make a crossover of two different series, they should either choose one of the styles and stick with it for the other series too, or just use a completely new style.

  If they manage to make it work, I’m glad for that. It doesn’t look bad, and honestly, I’d be disappointed if they did choose one style over another. If they did something like an art book for the game or whatever, I wouldn’t mind seeing both series in each other’s styles, but losing that in-game wouldn’t be all that nice.

Can’t look at that nice pic of Maya and Phoenix without a bit more frustration over Apollo Justice.

No way in hell does that girl let Phoenix become the man he is in that game.

  Hmmm, I was under the impression that Apollo Justice left a lot of things unanswered. So chances are, there will be another Apollo Justice, which will hopefully also sort out what happened between Maya and Phoenix. If they don’t do that, it would be rather odd to leave all that build-up from the first trilogy.

The announcement made me think Lupin vs Conan. Except somehow, this feels a little better… (Not that I wouldn’t mind seeing a Lupin and Layton team-up now. Or Conan and Layton, for a crazier yet fitting crossover.)

I wasn’t too excited when I saw the announcement article, but now I’m all over this~.
