Majin And The Forsaken Kingdom Demo Stomps Onto PSN Tomorrow

By Spencer . October 25, 2010 . 10:29am

majinWhile you’re waiting for The Last Guardian why not give Namco Bandai’s monster buddy game a look? A demo of Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom will be available as a PlayStation Network download tomorrow. Namco Bandai also plans to release a demo on Xbox Live at a later date.

Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom tells the tale of a quiet boy and his giant pal exploring a kingdom overrun by darkness. Players control the nimble human and order Majin to breathe fire and pound gooey shadow creatures. These sticky shadows can bog Majin down by latching on to him. The boy can knock these monsters off Majin. In return, Majin can absorb the ooze from the shadows, which restore’s the boy’s health.

That’s one example of teamwork. Majin also opens doors and moves objects so the boy can climb to places he wouldn’t be able to reach on his own. Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom comes out on November 23 in North America.

  • Will do ! ^_^

Enslaved is on my next to get list, so I’m not sure about this. Rent maybe?
Though the way Majin speaks he reminds me of the Iron Giant.

I look at this game. Then I look at Ico/Collosus and The Last Guardian for ps3. And i think to myself, maybe ill hold off on this one… maybe my money is better spent supporting TeamIco.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

My thoughts exactly. This doesn’t look like a bad game at all, but… not good enough in a sense when you don’t have money to blow.

  • Will look at some Youtube footage and then decided what to do. I knew about this title but for some reason I never followed it.

I hope everyone looking for games with a TeamIco vibe will also give Hudson’s Lost in Shadow a chance.

Will give it a try, not sure if their interaction would be as intriguing as Monkey & Trip, I have a feeling this would play rather similar to Enslaved, and all this time I just had my eyes on the latter.. The shadowy monsters do look like they’re from Ico/Nier.. I’m always up for a good action platformer w/ some puzzles, but the looks of the boy and the monster don’t look that appealing to me..

    • Apollokids

Yeah those were my thoughts too. The “boy” looks about 17 and the monster seems to have been lobotomized. Rather than a team who play on each others strengths; it seems to my like a master/pet relationship.

      • Aoshi00

I don’t like the boy’s design much either.. All they need is to get Vin Diesel to voice the rock monster :) Part of what made Enslaved work was its engrossing narrative, and Ico has a sense of urgency too, but this just looks kind of boring.. really wish they hadn’t scrapped Cry On.

It makes me sad that so many people are dismissing this title. I loved Folklore and it had a certain magic to it that I’ve not doubt this title will have as well.

    I’ll definitely get the demo.

Folklore felt like a fairytale SMT game. I liked almost everything about it, even the six-axis capture. I only wished that the game didn’t force you to go through both protagonists. There was also nothing else like it at the time. This game, however, seems to have quite a bit more competition as there are a few games out there right now or upcoming that are also AI coop fantasy adventure. Ironically, Game Republic themselves has another one in the works.

I don’t really have any interest in the game, but I have to agree with this.

I liked Folklore too at the time, problem is you have Enslaved and this coming out at around the same time, Enslaved just felt more appealing to me. I’ve seen the trailers and gameplay of this, it’s not bad, but nothing special that screams “pick me up”.. and I just beat Enslaved and this looks like to be a similar game, it might feel a little bit deja vu, I’ll give it a try eventually, but neither chars looking that interesting to me from what I’ve seen. Also Enslaved had really good voice acting from Andy Serkis and such, I really cared about what happened to Monkey and Trip, not sure about this one, the boy and his Golem..
