Mindjack (And Its Giant Gorillas) Jumps Into North America On January 18

By Spencer . November 2, 2010 . 8:53am

imageSquare Enix plans on releasing Mindjack, a third-person shooter developed by Lost Odyssey studio Feelplus, in North America first. Mindjack brings robots and mind-controlled gorillas to North America on January 18. Japan gets the game on January 27.

Mindjack takes place in 2031 where Jim Corbijn, an elite Direct Intervention Force agent from the Federal Intelligence Agency, gets caught in between a war with governments and corporations. Jim has the ability to hack into people and robot’s minds to take control of them.

Mindjack’s most unique feature is usually the one least discussed. Players can leave their single player campaign game open to the Internet. It’s an optional feature, but if you turn it on another player can jump in as a friend or enemy.

“Jim has the ability to hack into people and robot’s minds to take control of them.” Probably the same/or variation of the system they are using for parasite eve PSP with tweaks.
A shooter release in North America first? Hell must have frozen over.
Square-Enix jumped the shark a long long time ago. The bar is constantly readjusted to a lower standard- game after game. I am unimpressed and i was such a devoted fan..

Why so negative? Just what is unimpressing about this game?

This is obviously another sub par game made in less than 9 months, that will be sold for 60 dollars. Its just another grab at your money. Everything is bland and generic. The story is weak, the color pallete is bland, the setting generic. A cybernetic gorilla doesn’t make it original. STOP MAKING BAD GAMES!! but you now what, i hope this game is so irreproachably bad and dies in sales so that the company wakes up and starts making good original games. Kinda like what happened to NIS. make them think twice about the garbage they want us to pay good money for

A bad game is:Dead to Rights RetributionFallout New Vegas (glitches galore)Quantum Theory
          Alpha Protocol

Its too soon to list this as a bad game. The Demon’s Souls-like online hacking element is interesting to say the least.Stop hatin

January is rather early and may compete with people aiming to get Mass Effect 2 on the PS3.

I guess I will have to be on the lookout for the demo, and if good I will give Square Enix more of my money. I think the game is one of their most diverse games offered on the powerful consoles.

Mass Effect 2 will not be good for this game’s sales.

Perhaps this could be the TPS (Third Person Shooter) game in light of Obsidian’s Alpha Protocol wannabe

Feelplus is the Lost Odyssey studio?

    Sakaguchi?

I thought that was Mistwalker that worked on Lost Odyssey

    • http://www.cosmosgaming.com cosmosgaming

Wikipedia says: Lost Odyssey (2007) co-developed with Mistwalker

Though I’m not exactly sure who did what on the title.

This is rare case of the more I see of this game, the less I know how to feel about it.

They lost me with the cybernetic gorilla; I’ll still check the demo but I don’t have high hopes maybe they’ll surprise me Like Platinum games did with bayonetta..
