Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Professional Adds More Than 100 Monsters

imageSquare Enix has a new version of Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 for Japan. Professional, similar to Final Mix and Capcom’s Monster Hunter "G" re-releases, has new content for fans.

Take the monster roster as an example. Shonen Jump reports Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Professional has over 100 more monsters than the original game. Square Enix also created new maps and tweaked the combat system. You can now give monsters in your party the "try various things" command from other Dragon Quest games.

Crosspass battles have been expanded to support three characters simultaneously and a strongest master faceoff over Nintendo Wi-Fi.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 is slated for spring 2011.

  • And we’re still waiting on DQ6, despite it having been officially announced…

Guess we can count this one out, what with the 3DS stealing the show later in 2011.

    • I don’t know. Wasn’t Nintendo making noises about specifically keeping the original DS going for a while even with the 3DS on the horizon? I mean, I doubt we’ll see this, sadly, but I don’t think DS support’s going to stop immediately either.

      • I have a feeling that comment was made just to keep DS sales up through the holiday more or less. Saying otherwise would pretty much just prevent anyone from buying a DS anymore. Would be bad for that to happen over the holiday period.

After the 3DS launches, I really doubt Nintendo will stick to that word at all, and will probably divert all attention to the 3DS when it releases.

To be honest, I have my doubts on DQ6 making it over, too. Square Enix’s silence about it is staggering, and they really go out of their way to ignore fans just wanting to know whether it’s still on the way (they did officially announce it after all, it’s no secret!). That, with the 3DS juggernaut overhead… just not looking good at all.

        • I’m really concerned about DQ6 myself- I heard Amazon took down their preorder page, even. If it becomes the only mainline Dragon Quest to never be available in English in any form, that would be so sad.

          • Oh that’s back up for now. Belief is that ordering was temp. disabled because they were actually getting more orders than they expected to be able to fill. Believe it or not the sales rank for it spiked from 45,000 to 9,000 (and it’s a Toriyama game, commence the jokes) something. Which is good! It indicates people want it. I even ordered two. One for me and one for my younger brother.

Also, it was on Nintendo Power’s Readers Most Wanted list for this month. 4th place.

That, with the Realms of Revelation trademark that this very site reported on is pretty much the hope the fans (myself included) are clinging to.

          • Ah, thanks for the info! That actually sounds a lot more positive than I’d thought, so hopefully they’ll go ahead and release it. I almost wonder if Nintendo has an agreement with Square-Enix for Dragon Quest IX to be the only new DQ game on the market for a certain period of time…

    • Guest

Were also waiting on Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory on the Wii

Anyways what was that on the topic cover pic next to the main character? looked like a Super Saiyan… dog

  • I just want to know if Gran Slime is in this! My favorite!

    • It is, that particular slime is like a trademark of the Monsters series.

  • Does any1 know how much monsters it will be in Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Professional ? It will have 100 monsters more then DQMJ2, and DQMJ2 had 100 monsters more then DQMJ. Am I right, when I say it will have about 400 monsters?
