Blame Delays, Final Fantasy Tactics: War Of The Lions Coming To iPhone In Spring

By Spencer . December 14, 2010 . 4:08pm

Square Enix gave us a first look at Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions on iPhone and announced a delay. The game won’t come out this year, the iPhone version has been rescheduled for spring.

That’s a screenshot of the iPhone version below.

For comparison’s sake here’s the PsOne version, Final Fantasy Tactics.

Players touch and drag to move around the map. The game, much like other versions, has a zoom feature, which should make it easier to select units.

Menus are a bit larger, presumably to make commands easier to tap. After deciding whether to attack or wait you can press a popup button next to the command or hit OK or cancel on the bottom menu.

They just better not try to charge more than $10 at this point for it– especially since you can get the PSP port for that now. Heck, you can get it for LESS than that if you try hard enough!

I’m just hoping this version doesn’t have the slowdown on attack animations. I gave up on trying to use all mages (except summoners, strangely) and magic sword users because of them being up to twice as slow to drudge through.

I hate buying into their LOLPORTS game as often as I do, but shut up and take my money, Squeenix. FFT is still to me the best game Square ever produced, and the additions made to War of the Lions made it even better. The slowdown dint’ even bother me, and I don’t see how it was really that hard for people to get used to after like an hour or so. If you can’t stand an extra like second and a half before an attack is performed, you probably don’t have the patience to finish a tactical RPG as it is, to be honest.

Nice. I don’t own an Iphone but I think it’s pretty cool Apple’s getting a lot of love from game devs recently :D

At the height of my original FF Tactics addiction in college, I actually lugged an original model Playstation 1 around in a backpack. I’d plug it in at work and play during slow times, bring it to my girlfriend’s dorm room, anywhere I could find a TV to hook up to.

So yeah, PSP and iPod versions make me chuckle a bit. Woulda made things so much easier for me 10 years ago…

I bet that mission on the rooftop is still bastard hard >_< I can't remember what the name or number of it is, but it starts with a NPC who's speed is faster then your characters, but she's weak. So what does she do? Charge head first into the powerful enemies ¬_¬. It's even worse if you want to steal the main enemies Maramusa (sp!) equipment.

Well this is good news for Iphone users. I just hope this means the game will finally come out on PSN too. Because right now you can only buy FFT:WOTL on UMD.
