Ranma ½ Catches Pachinko Fever

By Spencer . January 4, 2011 . 2:54am

imageThere hasn’t been a Ranma ½ game in over ten years. That’s about to change, but not if you’re hoping for a 3D Ranma fighter with online play. Pachinko machine maker Sankyo licensed the Ranma series to create Pachinko Fever Ranma ½.

This isn’t the only anime licensed pachi-machine from Sankyo. They already made pachislot (read: slot machines) for Nadesico, Macross and Captain Herlock. Pachinko parlor guests can look forward to hot water gender swapping and token dropping when this comes out "soon".

Not since the PSX and SFC respectively.

      So yea, definitely.

I actually own the psx fighter and just like the Kenshin fighting game it’s only good if you are a REALLY REALLY big fan of the anime/manga…… so naturally I loved them. >_>

Honestly, Chougi Ranbu Hen on the Super Famicom was about as good as it got. That was some good times. Bakuretsu Rantou Hen was all right as well and at least made it stateside, if a little nerfed for what it used to be.

That’s a title I wasn’t expecting any time soon on a game label.

Damn….I would love a Ranma game this gen. Heck, a Great Teacher Onizuka, a Cowboy Bebop, a Sailor Moon, or Card Captor Sakura game would rock IMHO. Rurouni Kenshin is getting a PSP game, so that is cool.

I like seeing the anime I grow up with, or older anime in general get some love in some ways. I mean, these days, I am sure a Ranma RPG sequel could do well. Personally, I would love a Sailor Moon RPG sequel, because, face it, those who actually played it knows it was a great game. GTO would be all around amazing as a game, Card Captor Sakura, like Sailor Moon, might be “Too girly” for most people but I would play it. I liked the show, and we all know girls could use more console games this gen, but alas, that would never happen. The concept of a CCS action game hunting the clow cards could have been great, using the abilities, fighting each as bosses and stuff.

That part about CCS actually reminds me of the CCS game on Bandai’s Wondersawn. It was an RPG with a Princess-Maker like growth system though, and it covered only the first half of the manga.

As for a GTO game, I would actually prefer a Shonan Junai Gumi, a.k.a The Early Years, game. Perhaps it would be similar to Kenka Bancho, although River City Ransom was the first thing that popped into my mind when I thought about it.

Hey, about CCS, there’s an extraofficial battle game for PC with Sakura. The name is Magical Battle Arena (or MBA). Search for it.

Oh, wow. It doesn’t look so bad either. Thing is though, I am not much of a fighter fan. S:

Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and now this.

looks like there are tons of games and anime making it to the pachinko era.

Hmmmm… another classic, long-dormant anime series revived for the purpose of a forgettable game tie-in. I don’t know whether to be outraged that fans are being so cruelly taunted, or happy that these series are getting any attention at all.
