Kokoro No Cocoron Is Namco Bandai’s Take On The Communication Game Genre

By Spencer . January 11, 2011 . 6:46pm

image Animal Crossing sparked the communication genre, a game where the goal is to make friends, in Japan. After Animal Crossing: Wild World came out on the Nintendo DS version, Konami released a magical take on it, Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times.

Now it’s Namco Bandai’s turn with Kokoro no Cocoron or Cocoron’s Heart in English. You play as Miru Miru in this Nintendo DS game and the goal is to make friends with the residents of Cocoron. Players earn "soratomo" (a portmanteau of sky and friend) by talking with other characters and create soratomo groups.

Kokoro no Cocoron is one of the announcements in this week’s issue of Famitsu. The Nintendo DS game is currently slated for a summer release in Japan.

Let’s see how it turns out… i will try to keep personal feelings againts namco bandai for destroying Summon Night’s main page by the end of the month (let’s hope they don’t destroy the series…) aside when checking the game out…

But, i don’t really expect some deep social game deep from them…

I am very curious, but I just can’t get excited about it right now. Lack of info/scans due in tiny part to that, of course.

if by a “take on it” you mean a complete rip off with magic tossed in sure you can say that

A DS game, interesting. I wonder how long the DS is going to keep getting support.
