5pb-Chan Finally Comes To Hyperdimension Neptunia Next Week

By Spencer . January 14, 2011 . 7:14pm

image5pb-chan, a mascot for visual novel and Phantom Breaker publisher 5pb, will finally be available as a downloadable character in Hyperdimension Neptunia. She and Red-chan, a mascot for Sakura Wars maker Red Entertainment, were created for the PlayStation 3 game post release.

The plan was to release 5pb-chan in December, but Compile Heart announced a delay a week before launch. You’ll be able to the radio DJ in the game starting on January 19, if you have the Japanese version.

NIS America plans on releasing the downloadable characters in North America, but have not set a timeframes for their release Stateside.

I can only imagine how excited people would be if Hatsune Miku made it in…. : )

    • krokounleashed

Sure, but she is not a mascot for a videogame company. They could add Jack Frost from atlus, tough.

      • Arcm

I can only imagine how Jack Frost could be turned into a moe girl….. Actually, I kind of hope for it now.

    • Kai2591

I bet that would boost sales tremendously lol. I can guarantee myself getting it too~

  • February can come fast enough for this game. It looks awesome and DLC is always good. Thats what I love with this generation of games. No more buying a game and calling it the end of the day, we can get DLC to reward us for playing games more and more and to make the game cater towards that which we want. Love the DLC age!

    • Yeah, but before the DLC age most games came with the full package.

      • raymk

woah not all of them the full package of some games weren’t so full. Think snes street fighter games and any other games that have special additions after the game has came out already.

        • Fighting games were updated for balance purposes and new characters… You can’t really blame them for re-releasing “the same game” with little additional content. Casual players will not notice the tweaks made to characters. However, re-releasing an updated version with full price is not acceptable.

I’m not an avid supporter of DLCs myself, so my opinion will be biased.. Let’s just say that I missed ‘unlockables’ and ‘secret characters’ rather than paying for them

        • but before the DLC age MOST games came with the full package.

          • Of course, because noneone could think something like that was possible. Now, they can release game, and if they feel like it, they could do any extras they want, or even fix stuff/

          • malek86

But did they, really? Or was it just that, since they didn’t have any way of adding characters, they couldn’t do it? Perhaps games didn’t come with the full package but they couldn’t do anything about it, or perhaps they did come with the full package. There is no way to tell.

This is a bit like that Schrodinger’s Cat situation.

      • No man I love paying for Tales and Street Fighter costumes :U

  • tr1gun1212

They kind of took too long to release this, really. Surely anyone that got the game at launch is completely done with the game by now. Would have been nice if they had been in from the beginning… Especially with so few playable characters.

    • MizuMikomi

Actually with the Platinum Trophy glitch just recently being fixed, a lot of people are just now starting to get back to Neptune.

So to be honest it was good for them business-wise to delay 5pb-chan, more DLC sales from people that are just now starting again to get Platinum… makes me wonder if Compile Heart delayed her for that very reason; although they likely didn’t.

  • Zero_Destiny

:) Super excited for the North American release. Even thou I’m not big on DLC I hope we got ALL the DLC chara. I trust NISA so I’m not to worried.

    • They have it on their store now, the cards look super special awesome!

      • Zero_Destiny

AWESOME!!! They sound nice and customizable :) But I think I’ll just go for in store pick up since the big thing for me is the artbook and the big cardboard box. BTW is that a Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged reference lol

  • Neptunia needs to get here now. JRPG fix needs to be fed.

    • March is just around the corner. Ar Tonelico 3!!!!!

“NIS America plans on releasing the downloadable characters in North America, but have not set a timeframes for their release Stateside.”

    why not on disc? :(

    • Probably because the discs are probably done by now and to put all the DLC on it would delay the game into maybe Summer or Fall.

Not to mention, the additional revenue they’d lose by not having DLC.

    • They’ve already said that DLC contents in JP will be DLC contents in the west, too.

  • I love her huge mouth shown on the thumbnail!
Wiki says that nao is behind this character’s voice. Apparently, she’s a professional singer. What’s also interesting (and blew my mind) is that the voice behind NIS in the game also voiced Laharl and bunch of other characters in NIS’ games.
There are English clips for the upcoming NA release surfacing and I really like those, too. Can’t say I know what to really expect gameplay-wise, but I’m loving the presentation so far.

    • nao sings the opening.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

      Hmm, I agree :3

  • Ou~ dude sexy DJ girl is sexy <3
I just hope they won't cost so much that I have to pull my hair out while I wait for the download to finish..lol.

  • I can’t believe it took me so long, but 5pb-chan reminds me (clothing wise) of all the characters in Memories Off: Girl’s Style. XD

This game just seems like it will be fun.
