Meet Garcia’s “Hot Girlfriend From Hell” In This Shadows of the Damned Trailer

By Ishaan . March 8, 2011 . 9:01am

Grasshopper Manufacture’s Shadows of the Damned has both No More Heroes creator, Goichi Suda, and Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, working on it. Suda is serving as the game’s executive producer, while Mikami is fulfilling the role of creative director. Meanwhile, longtime Silent Hill composer, Akira Yamaoka, will provide the game’s soundtrack.

Shadows of the Damned is being published by Electronic Arts under their EA Partners label. The game is scheduled for release on June 7th, and EA released a new trailer for it today. We’ll have a hands-on preview of Shadows of the Damned up shortly, so keep an eye out for it.

  • It’s like if Benicio del Toro had directed God Hand.

    • Has Benicio del Toro directed anything? I thought he was just an actor.

Are you thinking of Guillermo del Toro, who did Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth and Cronos?

      • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

However, it’s also like if Benicio del Toro STARRED in God Hand.

  • MisterDandylion

Wow, Mr. Hotspur sure looks pissed :O

Finally a realease date :3 I’m curios about the soundtrack though :)

  • Barrit

This game didn’t really catch my attention before this video. Going to have to keep my eye on this one!

  • That looks amazing. I’m also amused at Garcia quoting Glenn Danzig’s “Sadistikal” in that trailer.

    • joesz

      That rabbit is so cuuuuuute!

      • Oh, yeah, that’s Krevlorneswath of the Deathwok Clan (we just call him Lorne). He belongs to my roommate and I. He’s a pain in the ass sometimes but we love him

        • joesz

          Well,he does resembles him:P Poor rabbit:i

          • When we got him from the shelter, they were calling him “Angel.” My roommate said, “I think that name’s lame.” And then she suggested we name him after something from the show, since she and I are both fans. I immediately thought of Lorne’s real name. He’s been shedding recently, so there’s these giant piles of bunny fur where ever he goes. We joke that it’s enough to make him a brother, so we’ve named his excess fur Numfar.

          • joesz

Lol.So,his actual name was Angel.Well, both names fits him well. But Imo,Numfar rules!

Please take good care of him:)

          • Oh, we watch his diet and make sure he gets exercise and watch that he doesn’t chew on wires or eat anything that might hurt him. We take him to the vet and overall spoil him. He’s going to be fine. He is much loved here.

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

I have a feeling some people needed to be assured that the game will not take itself too seriously, and this trailer did just that. Looks great!

Johnson sounds like a lot of fun =P

  • Icon

Well, since Suda has this love for Mexico… Day 1, bebé! El primer dia!

    • No tenía idea de que le gustaba tanto :o

  • I can’t stop smiling throughout the trailer. That is some insane stuff going on.
    Still can’t stop smiling :D

  • godmars

More like the psycho bitch girlfriend from hell – before she went to hell.

    • puchinri

I’d be a psycho bitch too if demons kidnapped me so their demon lord could have his way with me. (She can’t be any worse than Catherine though.)

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

      Shadows of the Dame.

  • Tarlol

    Day one.

  • HarryHodd

Oh man another game to buy this year. Looks too awesome and crazy to pass up.

  • My name is Garcia Hotspur. You took my girlfriend. My wrath is your hell.

  • SolidusSnake

Whoa, looks like someone’s been watching too many Robert Rodriguez films!

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Speaking of the Devil, finally watched Machete yesterday. My god, what a good time. His movies are all so wild trashy fun, he’s like a kid with excellent bad taste fueled by impossible juvenile fantasies.

Far less calculated and versatile than Tarantino, but 10x more carefree and delightfully un-jaded.

      • SolidusSnake

heh heh heh… one of my bros and I went to see Machete the night it came out. Good, violent, hilarious fun for the most part, although I think Rodriguez got way too preachy in regards to his political views. Lots of great moments nonetheless, I loved the final battle with the combat lowrider crushing guys with its hydraulics :D

Can’t say Rodriguez is the best director ever, but his movies are sure as hell some of the most fun to watch. Planet Terror has gotta be one of the best zombie flicks I’ve ever seen. tbh I was never a huge Tarantino fan aside from Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill vol. 1, and then again even the latter borrowed most of its good stuff from great classic Japanese samurai movies, especially (my favorite of all time), Lone Wolf and Cub.

        • Glad to see someone else is not a Tarantino fan. I look at him as not so much making movies, but taking his favorite scenes from other movies and compiling them. It’s the difference between being a good musician and being able to make a good mix tape.

The man also has no knowledge of characterization. If you take any character from any Tarantino movie and switch their dialogue with any other character from a Tarantino movie, you’ll see the the dialogue works just as well.

          • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Can’t argue with any of that, really.

        • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Politically ham-handed, that’s for sure. Not subtle at all. Especially DeNiro’s Bush character. But I think he gets away with it because of the low-brow Grindhouse format. But yea, so many great moments all right. I like the ending part where Steven Seagal gives up and kills himself. Also a lot of quotable lines. “Oh God it’s the WEEDWACKER.” “God is merciful. But I’m not.” Also a lot of naked women. And Lindsey Lohan playing herself IRL.

Like Charles said, one of the worst kept secrets why Taratino has such quirky movies is that he watches so much stuff and borrows liberally from what he knows (though it’s hard to deny has a certain kind of talent). I enjoyed Pulp Fiction as well, it’s probably his one film that doesn’t borrow heavily from one source (that I know of). Have you seen Reservoir Dogs? With that one he wholesale rips off a classic Hong Kong movie, Ringo Lam’s City on Fire. Infuriating.

          • SolidusSnake

Damn, I didn’t know that about Reservoir Dogs. That’s shameless and shameful. I was never a fan of Reservoir Dogs but I might have to track down a copy of City on Fire for purposes of comparison.

          • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Yea, its probably the farthest he’s gone ever though. I hope he makes more original movies at some point… but yea, City on Fire, check it out. Great on its own right.

  • Ren

Garcia voice annoyed me for some reason, he sounded like a hoarse chain smoker, and I wanted his sexy mexican accent to be deeper. Well, the soundtrack is already a plus, seems like Yamaoka always delivers, no matter which genre.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

    Catherine? Is that you?

…I think I’m going to enjoy talking to Johnson (that is what your skull-weapon-companion’s name is, right?).

  • mikanko

Wow, easily the best looking trailer for this game so far. Instantly went from wait and see status to better budget wallet accordingly status.

  • PrinceHeir

at first when i saw the screens i was kind not impressed due to them not going for the Killer 7 route but once i saw this trailer i knew this game is gonna one “Hell” of a ride :D

will look forward to this :P

  • puchinri

This game went from ‘eh’ to ‘YES!’ for most people apparently. x’D
I am a lot more interested in it myself.

    • Testsubject909

I was always interested in this from it’s conception, personally.

I’m pretty open to whatever it’ll end up being, all I know is… with 3 solid epic names behind this game? There’s no way I won’t be getting it. Definitely Day 1. Definitely.

      • puchinri

I wanted to be interested, but I could only be barely curious whenever I would see it.

        I loved that it had Suda, Mikami and Yamaoka’s names on it, but everything felt so underwhelming early (I would have made a whelmed joke, but I don’t know if you watch Young Justice). I am more eager for it now though~. But I probably won’t be able to get it Day 1 sadly… ;u;

  • Oh damn, this reminds me to the deeper levels at the girl’s cosmospheres in ArTonelico xD

  • hush404

THAT just sold me on this game.

  • z_merquise

When they said that this game was inspired by films of Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino and other B-movie horror, they weren’t joking! This is pure good stuff!

Enough with the Hollywood-like, self-serious, melodramatic stuff from games. They should remember that games are also meant to be fun and this game is a prime example.

  • Wow…Garcia is so pussywhipped that he feels compelled to go after his (seemingly) selfish girlfriend in hell. Dude, just leave her and get yourself a nice girl…who isn’t from Hell this time.

  • Amazing! Looks like a winner! Ding! Ding! Ding!
