Boss Characters Playable In Dead or Alive: Dimensions, Free DLC Costumes Coming

By Ishaan . March 11, 2011 . 10:27am

Famitsu have a two interesting bits of news on Dead or Alive: Dimensions this week. According to them, the series’ boss characters — Alpha-152, Alpha Kasumi, Genra and Tengu (Raidou is already confirmed to be playable) — will all be playable together for the first time in the Nintendo 3DS game.

Some of these characters (such as Raidou) are able to make a return because Dead or Alive: Dimensions is a chronicling of the first four Dead or Alive games with added story events and scenes. You can find the rest of the game’s playable roster in this post.

The other interesting piece of news is that Dead or Alive: Dimensions will feature free downloadable content in the form of 28 additional costumes. Some of these include: Cheerleader Lei Fang, Ninja Outfit Ayana, and Tina and La Mariposa in a White Cat outfit.

You can view more costumes and screenshots over at the Famitsu article.

Weren’t Tengu and Raidou already playable in the old games? I don’t remember well though.

Quite certain I unlocked Raidou in DOA, but can’t remember Tengu…

tengu was playable in DOA2 ultimate and DOA2 hardcore for the ps2 so yeah they both were.

Playable together. No game has had them all at once before. :)

Wish I could get a confirmation that this is a launch title for the U.S.

At least the DLC is free, unlike a certain other popular fighter. Wink wink, nod nod.

And if there’s going to be 28 DLC costumes, I must wonder how many will be in the game… *crosses his fingers for a Ultimate situation where you’ve got 3-8 costumes depending on the character*

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

      *unlike most other popular fighters….

That’s what I am hoping as well. 3-8 seemed to be the staple number sense DOA2 Hardcore. I will be hihly disappointed if the initial release of this game sees that each character only has 2-3 costumes and they use the DLC to make it seem like no big deal. that would just look like it was content that should have been day1 but removed to give us something to look forward too down this games life span.

I hate to say it, but the cheerleader and ninja outfits look really nice.

Could it be that we’re going to see many games with content as free DLC instead of just being included in the game, possibly as a way for Nintendo to get people to connect their console (and thus update the firmware)?

  • JustAnotherTraveler

A fighting game with free DLC? THIS IS NOT HAPPENING.

    Epic-winning.

So… basically on top of being able to assign auto-combo/attack commands with a simple scroll and touch.

I can theoretically use that cheap-ass alpha boss who can take down half your health bar with a single attack…

Hmm… Yup, I’m in no rush whatsoever.

    28 costumes…
    Makes me want a 3DS even moar….
    But still..

Well for a start, Lei-Fang’s “Cheerleader” costume is actually a Tea Maid costume. And secondly, its Ayane not Ayana. Whose costume shoulda been in the game anyway, but ah well. I’ll be getting these when I get my 3DS. Will these always be available? Or for a short time only?

  • Sakurazaki

… Why was Ayane’s costume NOT in the game in the first place? I would think of it as one of those costumes “supposed to be there already”.
