Take A Good Look At Evil Ryu In Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition

By Ishaan . March 25, 2011 . 8:25am

You might recall a leak from January that confirmed Evil Ryu and Akuma as playable characters in Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. This week, Capcom released screenshots of Evil Ryu on the Super Street Fighter IV website and blog. Here’s a look:

We recently unearthed a rating for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition for consoles from Korea’s Game Rating Board, which means the Arcade Edition is on its way to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Street Fighter IV producer, Yoshinori Ono, has been teasing the release lately on his Twitter feed, too, along with a PC version of Super Street Fighter IV.

Capcom’s Captivate press event is coming up in early April, which would be a good time for the company to make an Arcade Edition announcement. While we wait, here are some low-res screenshots of Evil Ryu’s special moves in the Arcade Edition.

If you still want more, Impress Watch have even more screenshots of the Evil Ryu vs. Akuma showdown, so check them out on their site.

    Now the question is….. How much is this arcade edition gonna cost ?!

  • “They turn him into a midget? Wait, he’s squatting kind of…oh.”

  • Tourney players probably won’t care (unless he’s top teir) but for players who aren’t like that (like me :D) this is awesome news indeed :D

  • Code

    That’s a mighty large dent in his chest opo;

    The Ultras for the AE edition characters are what should of been for SSF4 chars in general they are so badass

    Evil Ryu is so evil, he tore out his own heart dood~!

  • Well, as I said before, I refuse to get excited about the Arcade Edition until I know for certain that it’s DLC and not another retail release. Not buying a third disc. Nope. Nope. Not gonna do it.

    From what I heard back when the code to unlock Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma for SSF4 AE machines was leaked months ago, Evil Ryu is a cross between Ryu and Akuma but without Akuma’s demon flip mix-ups and has an axe kick. Overall he seems a bit lazy in his playstyle design, but his focus attack and his uppercut ultra are some of the sickest animations in the game.

    Oni Akuma however is a more original design. He loses his demon flip mix-ups but gains slightly more health, a command air dash, and a rush spinning punch that can cross up the opponent.

    Neither Evil Ryu nor Oni make regular Ryu and Akuma obsolete though. Ryu is still a very solid and well-rounded character based around fundamentals and Akuma is still a knockdown and wakeup mix-up nightmare.

    release this on consoles, and this time make it the final update for the SFIV series so we can rest the game for awhile

  • A truly awesome design.

    The sixth picture in this article is amusing. It’s like Ryu’s gonna nerdslap Akuma.
